Octopodes tile?

I'm thinking about making a tile for this. Is the Octopode supposed to be an straight-up octopus? Does it have any magical modifications? Should it be slightly non-realistic? Are there any other requirements or preferences I should be aware of?

(I've been a husbandry volunteer for a while, and have worked with Giant Pacific Octopuses for a number of years, and enjoyed every minute of it)

Re: Octopodes tile?

Answer from Eronarn (the designer and coder of the species): octopodes are giant, being not as tall as a person, but much bulkier (because they're more spherical). they are otherwise identical to normal cephalopods, and look like them. the existing tile is a good size guide. They could be a bit smaller than depicted there but i wanted hats to work.

Re: Octopodes tile?

I was thinking about using a model something like this, including the stance, where you can see only one eye. I'm figuring this is OK, since Octopuses' 'faces' have little in common with most animal's faces. Also, I'm assuming that the Octopode is to be drawn as if it's underwater. (Octopuses are very puddly when they are out of the water, and can look like a moving pile of red snot with muscles.)

Is this the direction you'd like for the Octopodes? Realistic-y?

I like the colour, but the shape is... shapeless :)
Don't forget that it needs to be able to wear a hat, a weapon and a shield. So maybe closer to the original pink one. You can also post it on mantis to get more feedback. Many devs don't come here.

Re: Octopodes tile?

Updated, but unfinished version. Still need to make the background shadow, I believe.

Looking for feedback (direction or correction).

See also Mantis.

Nice tile, though Octopode player ghosts don't seem to use it
