altars with worshipers

Just that. I liked the idea of altars with worshipers, so I decided to make a few. Currently there's a church devoted to zin and a closet where a follower of kiku sacrifices someone, but I plan to make a few more.

Re: altars with worshipers

In general vault monsters are unpopular, and one with the same name as a real monster obviously won't fly. These also seem way too challenging for d:2; possibly they could drop further in the dungeon and all monster made hostile.

Perhaps minor necromancer or something?
And the zin one doesn't have hostile monsters, so I figured they could just fit in as decoration that happens to move around.

Any monster which is "just a rename" is considered bad design. They make the game less clear without adding significant value.

As long as you did not alter the spells of the necromancer, adding a kiku vault with one would be fine.

For the Zin vault, "decoration that happens to move around" is considered bad. There is no reason to use the renames - Change the priest monster to a neutral Silver Star, maybe making room for glass to surround it. Then change all the followers to standard, neutral humans. People can make the leap to get the flavor. (Although personally I do not think being passive would the response of interrupted Zin worshippers. I'd expect them to attack the interloper if the intruder worshipped an Evil/Chaotic god, and otherwise be at least very annoyed.)
On IRC my nick is reaverb. I play online under the name reaver, though.

Re: altars with worshipers

The necromancer isn't an actual necromancer, he's a human who can cast pain. I figured the real deal would be really out of depth.
Didn't know the renaming was frowned on though, I'll change that.
As far as the zin guys attacking if someone following an evil god walks in, I wanted to put that in but couldn't figure out how to do it with lua.

As you open the door, Zin's light bears on you.
"An intruder, glowing most uncleanly!"
"Seize him for the glory of Zin!"

Zin giggles!

Re: altars with worshipers

Problem is, I have no knowledge of lua. I was also considering a TSO thing, and decided not to do it specifically because I wasn't sure how to make them attack you for worshiping an evil god. If I figure out how to do it, rest assured any death knights that walk into a cathedral will regret it. That or become very happy because of all the bodies they just generated to turn into undead, it's a bit hit or miss.
