Proposal: Randarts named after players should have gameplay effects. "Character X's Doom" randart for example could spawn a very OOD monster as soon as you see the artifact be it in a shop or floor. This would lead to hilarious moments in ##crawl when newbie players unaware of this would come to brag about their cool artifacts with cool names, like this: "Haha, guys, look what I found, luckily didn't buy it OMG FUCK WHAT DRAGON ON d:6!!?"
