Extradimensional Runes: New Game+ rather than Bonus Dungeon

Clearly, the current state of Pan and Hells is unacceptable. Nothing new exists there, and it's just a tiresome exercise in demon-squashing and rune gathering.

To fix this sad state of affairs, I proposed that entering Pan and Hells should be akin to starting an entirely new game of crawl, only with everything turned up to 11. As one of the lead Developers and Programmers in charge of the .14 release, I have been instructed to share with you some of the new features.

Firstly, Pan will now be the "Main Branch" of Extended and will have numerical Depth, off of which the Hells branch off into. Demons within Pan and Hells will receive buffs to HD, AC, and similar based on the depth they are in. Furthermore, "Greater" versions of creatures will begin showing up, which will utilize the "Extended" Spells, Items and Abilities only available in Pan. For example, A Greater Neqoxec would be roughly equivalent to the current Mnoleg, though weaker if discovered on the 1st floor of Pan and stronger if discovered on the 666th. It will also have access to Summon Horrible Things, Mass Polymorph, and similar entertaining things, such as having the same effect as an Orange Crystal Statue upon the unprepared!

"But how will I combat such fearsome creatures!?" you, the hopelessly underpowered Level 27 Hasted Firestorming Lichform Int-Shuffled Troll of Cheibriados cries. Well fear not, because just as the monsters are getting souped up, so too will you be!

Within ÜberPan, you will be able to find new items and spells that will allow you to combat the fearsome denizens, such as the the upgraded "Hellfireball" and the Level 10 Summoning/Conjurations spell Ratstorm, bread and butter evocables such as "Wand of Banishment," "Rod of Chaos Blast," and "Lamp of Orbs of Fire!" Exciting unrandarts like the Axe of Woe can be located by the lucky, and bizarre and wonderful items like Blowguns of Chaos and Dual Branded Combo Weapons like the classic "Triple Executioner's Axe of Holy Wrath & Reaching" will make up your new repertoire of equipment! And Let's not forget jewelry and consumables either! Enjoy the comfort of "Amulets of Mutation Immunity," Rings of Double Invisibility(Here's looking at you, Stabbers!) and the power of Potion of Borgnjor's Revivification and Scroll of Step from Time!

And don't think this is just an exercise in Rune Grabbing, either! You'll have to adapt to these strange new monsters and items just as you did back on Dungeon: 3, because it's not just Dispater and his Iron Shot Storm you need to worry about. Without spoiling too much more, suffice it to say that you haven't seen the last of Sigmund...

Funny you mentioned Axe of Woe because that's kind of what meatsprint is, everything is super-deadly but so are you.

Absolutely, I've been on the devteam since the Reagan administration

Also I'd just like to point out that with the Re: added to the topic on replies, it looks like this (At least in my browser)

(Hob^2)goblins. Even Bigger Kobolds. Extremely Ugly Things. Serial Killer Bees.

They wait for adventurers foolish enough to try New Game +.

But what you really have to watch out for is Taumund (Sigmund's eldest brother) and Rupestt (Rupert's new-and-improved form). :D

I've heard Mara spawns in a band with 5 illusions based on your 5 highest scoring characters in this mode. Is that true?

I've also heard Mennas the Menace makes the normal one look like a boy scout.

Does this mean we'll finally see the Scroll of Omnipotence implemented?

The best way to update all the old monsters is simply to make golems out of them.

Killer bee golem, eye of eyes golem, toenail golem golem. So elegant.

You think your artefact vorpal great mace is useless and you'd rather crush dudes with flaming/freezing/whatever else? Think again!

Also make the golems as fast as their normal counterparts. Yes.

A level 10 summoning spell that gives you high-level player ghosts as allies.

And then you meet a Greater Shadow Fiend with Mass Dispel Undead.

Yes.

Also add runelock and a new monster to guard the lock: The Eternal guardian. AC 60, GDR 100 % if hit for less than 60 points of damage (0 % otherwise), HP about 2000. Makes copies of himself if you try to lure him away from the lock.

Should I expect continuum-sized Omnipandemonium after I clear that one? With packs of Cerebovs and full-level sized slime creatures?

New spells:

Iskerendun's Warcube
Level 9 Conjuration/Hexes
Summons a friedly cube of pure magical force. Fires three intense blasts of energy (think eye of devastation) then launches self into nearest enemy for damage equivalent to Iskerendun's Orb of Destruction, to top it all off.

Iskerendun's Mystic V/STOL Carrier
Level 10 Conjuration/Hexes
Can only be cast in sufficiently wide, open spaces. Smite-targeted, summons a huge, 3 tiles x 3 tiles block of exorbitant magical energy. For each of three turns, the huge magical block summons a warcube. After all three warcubes have been summoned, the "Carrier" self-destructs in three subsequent turns, with the force of three orbs of destruction colliding simultaneously.

There's a new faith level now where you tell god what to do not vice-versa (and later on get to summon it for help when outnumbered).

It's not broken, but once you've got 7 or 8 stars in a couple of religions you can put workable combo's together, as long as you do it on the way in to the fight rather than waiting till things have already gone south.

A clone farm branch where you fight packs of uniques would be fun. Nessos was fun the first time...now fight 4 of him.
