Felids ARE furries. They fall into the first-level category of furries or something.
DON'T ASK ME WHY I KNOW IT GOD NO.

Oh, oh, golems could be a playable race! You get to choose your element before start (just like weapons for fighters/wands for artificers, etc.) and such. No armor, weapons, just unarmed w/elemental attacks on level 15 or something, Draconian-like development, well, you got my point.
Being a Golem Assassin would be a bad idea regardless of the element. Come to think of it, Air Golem sounds kind of unimaginable, too.

There's been quite a few golem species proposed -- I think someone even wrote up a patch for two of them and submitted, though I don't know how that's going.

Here's some generic brainstorming: a utility that makes it easier to make vaults, holy god these fog machines are killing me.

Just a tutorial or a how to ? guide should be fine. Minmay's wisdom is requested here.

As a suggestion: move "ugly things" from u to x in ASCII code. They are quite similar, odd creatures.

Tile users don't understand a sh*t but doing this the game gains another letter slot to assign into another type of beings.
u... ?

I don't know if this is attempting to pervert Linley's original design, though.

It's not so much the implementation (although I'm still learning that), it's having to reload crawl to test out vaults all the time, and more effort too to see how a vault looks in both console and tiles. It's a lot of little hassles that accumulate when you're testing out things over and over. Is there a way to reload a vault directly from an updated file instead of having to close Crawl first and reloading maps at startup?

Pressing the movement keys more slowly should make you move more sneakily.
Pressing the movement keys more forcefully (bashing them.) should make your attack do more damage.
High elves are very gourmet eaters and actually prefer their meat slightly rotten. (well aged.)

The Crawl version of jerking the Nintendo controller to make Mario jump further. (Although with the Wii and other motion-control consoles, this kind of actually works...)

High elves will die within 300 turns if they do not regularly consume certain "medicinal" herbs. (They don't call them HIGH elves for no reason!)

New Option Proposal: Sweet Victory Mode.

while this option is on, every time you win, the game compresses your win into a two-minute video set to an extremely awesome song, all the while causing your computer to print smiley faces and repeatedly open and close all your DVD drives.

New Area Proposal: Hall of Seasons

7 levels deep, appears very early in the dungeon, from D:2 to D:5(Or, alternately, if you want to avoid putting really hard areas in reach of newbies, at the bottom of the dungeon, from D:21 to D:26 instead.). Has a slightly different theme, tileset, and monster spawning list for each month of the year. Contains the multicoloured rune.

I worry that if one month's layout proved to be noticeably easier than the others you'd just get spoilered players resetting their system clocks to a different month just to generate the easy month set, which is basically like... meta-grinding.

It is a pretty cool idea though.

Well if it's single player, who cares? And if it's played on a server... I don't know much about computers, but I'm guessing you could just use the server's clock?

Players can also save scum and post YAVPs of it as well. Really you just have to take them at their word. But hey, if someone wants to go to those lengths to make their own game easier it is their own game. They could also change aptitudes/weapon damage for their own game, the source code is open, after all.

Cut the clock thing and just have a four levelled branch, one floor per season. Alternatively have the "forest" level/branch randomly spawn as different seasons.

Throwable schoolbooks. They enrage orgres, trolls etc. and scare away goblins, spriggans, humans and necromancers. Eustachio and Frederick get mesmerized by them.
Trog does not allow to burn them for some reason. Instead, he forces you to collect and sit over them to build up rage.

The player can lose some body parts to add a gore flavour:
- A hand / arm : you cannot wear a shield and a weapon at the same time, one ring slot is lost.
- A leg: Slowness x2
- An eye: Inaccuracy x2
- A tail (draconian) : cannot tailslap anymore
- A tentacle (octopode): lose a ring slot, when reaching 4 cannot you cannot wear a shield and a weapon at the same time.

IVAN had this. The mechanics were a little busted, though. A hedgehog (one of the lowest-level enemies) could, if it got a lucky hit, bite off your leg. You could also lose a leg by walking over broken glass.

But still:
ofigeniye (офигение) -- "WHATTHEHECKness". Happens whenever you kill a healty hellion with a single stone from a -5 sling of velocity. Paralysis, existential damage and improved mana regeneration.
rzhunimagu (ржунимагу) -- "LOLing". Makes you laugh uncontrollably and not notice anything around you (equal to sleep in effect) and "sleepwalk" (roll on the floor laughing).
pofigism (пофигизм) -- "Notgivingadamness". Lets you ignore fear, mesmerization, hostile charms and walls.

An idea for a unrandart scroll:

Scroll of Demonic Conduit
Open a conduit to a demonic plane, drawing power to the user. Such a conduit tends to attract attention from the plane's denizens after a while...

Gives improved mana regeneration to the rate of several mp/turn, lasts a random amount of turns, 5-50 or so. At the end of the effect, summons several hostile demons near the player, type depends on character level but should always be "OOD". For a lvl 27 character, think 5-10 1's or Pan lords. The trick to using it would be to leave the level shortly after the effect ends.
