I haven't actually. I had to look that up. I dislike FPSs and 3D graphics.

How about making uniques more interesting? For example, giving a certain middle-aged bounty hunter some followers (similar to Pikel's slaves) that go around proclaiming all of his accomplishments (perhaps recent players he has killed).

There's already at least five uniques with pack of mooks following them around: Pikel, Josephine, Margery, Grum, Azrael....

While I agree that particular uniques may benefit from a boost in flavour, I suspect there's so much the devs can do besides adding one-liners and modifying spellsets to make each of them markedly different from the others. Hence why they try to wean out those that seem to be carbon copies of other uniques, i.e. Jozef being to similar to Joseph.

I wrote Harold's new description as a middle-aged bounty hunter about to retire, and then made a bunch of speech to go with it, but I never got around to submitting the speech. I should get around to that.

Shimmering shapeshifters. Appear in packs, all change form to a new theme (orcs, oozes, dragons, etc.) when a pack member dies.

Altar mimic. Large piety boost on kill if you happen to worship that god; if not worshipping, the associated god also offers a chance to join.

Web mimics. Because the spider branch doesn't have enough webs.

Runed door mimic. Basically, take a vault layout enclosed with runed door(s), fill it in with wall, and replace the doors with mimics. You could also clear out the insides and just treat it like a normal room, or add a tiny bit of treasure.

Roving hole. Was going to say "shaft mimic" but that makes no sense. You can't kill it in melee or from ranged, but it will close up if enough monsters or items fall through.

It's only the "hole" and "shaft" bits that appear smutty. "Roving" and "trap" are not, by themselves, particularly suggestive.

But this has to stop. It's time to clean up Crawl.

roving trap

The "roving" bit is just an adjective in a phrase and not smutty in itself, and "trap" seems to have a least four different entirely disparate meetings, only one of them vaguely smutty. QED.

Roving becomes smutty when applied to other words (e.g. "roving eye"), which is not a feature that lots of words have. As for trap, I linked such that the relevant definition was topmost. On the internet, trap means that most of the time.

Flensing is a looser sense also refers to removing the fat from anything, which also comes in handy for describing the process of hacking chunks of moose fat off the moose.
