New spell school: geology (no, this does not overlap with anything)
Level 1 spell Geology/Air: use induction with the earth's magnetic field to give a monster a mild electric shock in melee. Hits for 0.001-0.003 damage

New Unique: Lyell. Doesn't attack so much as study you carefully and point out how your layers show exactly how ancient you are.

New branch: The Burgess Shale. There could actually be some cool monster ideas there.

Re: Generic Brainstorming!

I finally had an idea that i thought would fit here:

Facial Hair should be a possible mutation. We could reintroduce MD, making them unique by giving it to them inherently.

Dwarves, and those suffering from Facial Hair would have the following benefits and problems:

1) randomly, and not often (maybe once in like 5000 turns), a movement or action is interrupted by a loud sneeze. I know, shouting already covers this, but a beard is still an additonal flavour.

2) Potions pass through your facial hair like a strainer (yuck!) As a result, potion effects last longer on you (healing/curing potions would maybe heal half their value up front and grant regeneration for a short duration, continuing to heal you.

3) Monsters with sharp weapons have a chance to decapitate your facial hair. If you are a dwarf, this is an instant death.

Ok, maybe not that last one, but really, 1 and 2 would be cool.

In fact, it could be made so that effect happens only at rank 2 or three of the mutation:

1) You have fur on and around your face (sneeze occasionally)
2) You have a large amount of facial hair (sneeze a bit more often, potion effects last longer)
3) You have a beard that even the most ancient dwarves and Santa Claus find magnificent (sneeze more often still, potion effects last significantly longer)
The above post is for entertainment purposes only. If you think anything I ever say is backed by fact, or if you cite things I've said in any argument ever, you are insane.

Also as a MD not being confused is lethal. Dwarfs have to have their booze you know.

Oh definitely. One of my D&D characters was a dwarf that was permanently drunk, and got the penalties of drunkenness any time he was sober for more than about an hour.

Much fun was had with that one, I played him like a drunk, regularly shouting random stuff and forgetting important things, and deluding himself into believing he was the leader of the party. I think the Warlord was planning to kill him, and the GM certainly was. His horse always had two barrels of ale, and he could use his unbreakable mug as a mace (when he wasn't using his great axe).

I propose that we put it to the test by shaving some deep dwarves. Even if they do heal, it'll be fun to watch them squirm.

They have damage shaving, so it follows that they also suffer shaving damage?

Re: Generic Brainstorming!

This is known as the "Deep Dwarf paradox", classically stated by Russell thus:

Suppose there is a dungeon with just one Deep Dwarf. In this dungeon, all damage is shaven by exactly one of two methods:
Shaving itself, or
being shaved by the Deep Dwarf.

Another way to state this is:
The Deep Dwarf shaves only that damage in the dungeon that does not shave itself.

All this seems perfectly logical, until we pose the paradoxical question:
Who shaves the Deep Dwarf's shaving damage?

This question results in a paradox because, according to the statement above, it can either be shaven by:
himself, or
the Deep Dwarf (which happens to be himself).
However, none of these possibilities are valid! This is because:
If the Deep Dwarf does shave his shaving damage, then the Deep Dwarf (himself) must not shave his shaving damage.
If the Deep Dwarf does not shave his shaving damage, then the Deep Dwarf (himself) must shave his shaving damage.

Re: Generic Brainstorming!

Dwarves who reach XL7 should get a favorite beverage. Like Draconians, this should be random, not a choice, It should have a significant effect on gameplay.

possible choices include:
Orcish Glibber - The strongest, most pungent alcoholic beverage, those with a taste for it are tougher, and their systems are immune to poison and nausea.
Moradin's Holy Water - Typical Dwarven Ale, but being holy, grants immunity some types of necromantic magics to those who prefer to drink it.
Elven Wine - Usually only preferred by the most fabulous of dwarves, this light, but still alcoholic beverage gives you a light floaty warming feeling, and those who prefer it gain one level of cold resistance, and an EV bonus.
Spriggan Dizzy Water - Water with grain alcohol in it. Comes in flavors ranging from Watermellon to Whipped Cream, but any dwarf preferring this stuff probably drinks it straight. Gives a slower metabolism, and a heightened sense of self-worth.
Absinthe - Yes, this green beverage made from fermented wormwood exists even here. Those who prefer this hallucinogenic drink get the Demonspawn weak demonic guardian mutation, and the demon always gets recolored to green.
Geryon's Hellish Lager - Served at scalding temperatures, the few dwarves who actually like this stuff are also on fire, and have a perma-ring-of-flames.
Shirley Temple - Someone lied to you. You now distrust everyone and everything around you, and gain Repel Missiles, and Repel Allies.

No, really. This would totally add flavor to the dwarves that they so desperately lack

New God proposal: The Calculus, god of numbers.

Gain piety by killing demons.

Gives you extra decimal places to spell success rates -- up to 3 at max piety. At medium piety shows you the exact damage dealt by attacks. Grants the ability to recite standard integrals, confusing everything in LOS.

Wrath causes moving diagonally to take √2 times as long.

Earth storm. Basically a earth version of ice/fire storm. At very high power it has a chance of creating walls.

There is a difference between a game being set in a dungeon, and a game being set in the Dungeon Dimensions. Dungeons can be nice. The Dungeon Dimensions are filled with strange things with too many pseudopods. Read about them here
