Orb run idea

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

Orb run idea

Instead of just generically spawning demons, instead it warps the dungeon around you to be like another branch. Boom now you are in elf hallways with tons of demonologist. Boom now you are surrounded by water and mermen have fun. Boom HOPE YOU LIKE SPIDERS

Re: Orb run idea

If I take off my boring old worrying-about-balance hat and just think of this at face value it honestly sounds like a ton of fun. I wonder if it could be made to work?

Or are you just kidding. I can honestly never tell in CYC...

Re: Orb run idea

Your decaying rune of Zot rumbles.
The Orb of Zot screeches.
BOOM - a swamp full of hydras.

Orb run difficulty scaled with number of runes.

Orb run where monsters actually leap from the screen and chase you IN REAL LIFE. Bet you wish you'd gone to the gym instead of spending all that time sitting in front of the computer, huh?

Orb run where you have to run laps around your room. Hundreds of them.

Re: Orb run idea

I am astounded at the frequency of suggestions to make the game even more difficult. Average win % in the tournament was just over 1%. That, and the game is much harder now, in my view, than it used to be. I've played since about .4. The OP's online win rate to date is 1 out of 330 games. What is the deal?

Re: Orb run idea

More relevant would be the ratio of players who grabbed the orb and died to those who won.

Re: Orb run idea

@MrPlanck I'm waaaay too impatient to win at this game more haha. I've had a few offline wins though back in ~0.8

Also, I'd gladly make the game harder if it makes it more interesting. This is WAY more interesting than "oh look even more demons never seen THOSE before."

Also, CYC is where crazy ideas go, but IMO it is also where "good ideas that are also crazy" should go.

I am not sure random teleportations are fun, not everyone likes Xom. Orb run is hard enough already IMHO.

I'm all for more interesting, and that is coming along nicely. But this seems especially painful to me. ;)

An orb guardian comes into view: 10 sit-ups!
An executioner comes into view: 10 push-ups!
A Pan Lord: 20 burpees!

All done? Keep running!

Orb circuit training ftw.

Or you could make the orb run into a drinking game, of course that sounds awful for success rate possibilities...

Re: Orb run idea

A modification- the Orb reliably spawns TWO different branches near you, and the monsters in them fight each other as much as you.

Re: Orb run idea

The orb is found on D:27 and you have to go down through Zot 1-5 to escape. (You would need the orb to enter Zot, so no going there first to clear it out before picking up the orb.)

The orb weighs A LOT, so you are forced to drop most of your gear to carry it out.

Spriggans can never ascend. They're simply not strong enough. Playing a spriggan must thus be for the enjoyment of the journey, not to reach the destination.

Re: Orb run idea

Alternatively, the orb weighs nothing but takes up all your inventory slots so anyone can pick it up but you can't carry anything else.
