Habits

I have a habit of eating corpses of uniques in celebration of killing them (as if to get their strength or something). And I choose robes and cloaks by their colour. If I remember more, then I'll post it. So what habits do you have?

Re: Habits

Oh yeah. When I play elves, I don't wear orcish stuff, because it stinks.

I pray on altars of my god if I find them.

When I stash my items on Lair:1, I always put useful potions and scrolls above the stair tile, food on the left, rings and armour on the right and weapons below, then just randomly choose tiles for projectiles, garbage, wands, rods. Oh as for books and wiz enhancers, I put them on the stairs.

Re: Habits

I drop them in sequence around the stairs, starting at the top left corner, according to their inventory order. So, weapons first, then ammo, then armour, und so weiter.

Re: Habits

It's interesting to see how a lot of people from that thread and me do exactly same things. I wonder if it's something collective unconscious or it's because only certain people like crawl. Compare this to my OP

That was one of ConInt's defining moments.

I'd guess it's that Crawl, and roguelikes in general, appeal to a specific cast of mind - obsessional, quirky, with a strange sense of humour.

Re: Habits

I give my characters the dumbest names ever, like:

Dumbass_heavy_on_cocaine MiMo of Tso.

Stalker_Meem DESt

Always_changing_numbnut_soulja SETm

I got the idea of these names from videos like this*: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyfmQC5IjMw

*Contains absolutly no sense at all.

I try and give my characters reasonable names, then every once in a while I name a name a dumb name and that character ends up with 15 runes.
I also used to name my characters after famous people, so player ghosts become quite amusing.

So I used to try naming my elves like Silfaril or something like that(I think fantasy style naming is pretty embarassing, though), but then my first winner(DEWz with 15 runes, 2 zigs) ended up with a name Bob.

Re: Habits

I tend to name my characters after the 4-character race/class mnemonic pair. More ridiculous is better.
So I have, among others:

* Definite Feat (DEFE)
* Despot Bender (DsBe)
* Fairy Bell (FeBe. One of my favorite builds.)

If it's not that, then puns:

* Whitespace (MfIE)
* Halt State (HOHe)

Btw, I think Grimms thread title "That thing you do." makes more sense, but I'm not as smart.
