Found some lychee and rambutan at my local super market... I didn't get them because they looked scary
Anyone have them before? What do they taste like? I might have to get one of each and some beef jerky and go traipsing through the basement at work with my hatchet.

Rambutan is not a scary fruit at all (apart from it's outer appearance); it's sweet and delicious, really.

Lychee are sweet, soft, and a little citrus-y they're often served as a dessert.

They look and taste almost the same when you open them. Hard to describe... texture kind of like a cherry, taste like a kiwi? They're very delicious and sweet.

Lychees and rambutan are very similar. Don't be put off by the exterior, the flesh inside is sweet and tasty. You can find them already peeled in cans too so maybe that would make it easier to start with.

As a Crawl player, how could you have found those fruits scary? Next you'll be telling us you ran away from a real quokka.

I threw a javelin at a real life bee but missed. Guess my throwing skill sucks.

I once head butted an orc. At least I think he was an orc.

Quokkas HURT, so I don't blame anyone for running away. (OK I was like two and a half, but it still hurt.)
Cute but painful. you have been warned.

I don't have the link handy from my Kindle, but a few years back some Tasmanian youths got in trouble for playing "quokka soccer." Presumably the lovable little scamps preemptively were getting revenge on human children?

We've been over it. Always happy for fresh information though.

Glad to see the topic was already beaten to death.
It's a Kindle Fire that's about a year and a half old.

Sure enough. I guess having not read the article in sometime I assumed Tasmania was the only island off the coast of Australia. Despite having personally been to one not named Tasmania :p

Don't worry, I only know that because I live about 6 Km from that island (Rottnest in case anyone's wondering).

You should go there and take some pics of quokkas standing next to signs saying things like "You see a quokka." or "The quokka hits you."

Rottnest looks quite pleasant, aside from all the tourists. Is it?

According to wikipedia, not many people live there. Are you alone?

I live in a city of ~1.6m. So, no I am not alone. And I don't live on the island.

Ah, to be alone. But I see I misread your original comment about the island - my mistake. Is Perth a good place to live? Although no island, it looks like it's a long way from any other large city.

Public transport is crap, because not enough people use it because it's crap ... . A lot of sheep go out through the port and they smell, it gets really hot in summer, we don't get enough rain, but other than that it's very nice. and yes Perth is pretty much the capital of nowhere.

Rambutans? They look like friggin' dragon scrotums, with a dragon testicle inside:
But yeah, they're yummy. Then again, so are dragon testicles.

D-Did you have to? That is NEVER leaving my mind now. Sigh.
I still want to try one. The rambutan, I mean. Yeah.
