One Damn Liar?

I actually like the effect of doubling the player/monster tiles vertically. It definitely causes distortion, but it also makes them far better differentiated from items and floor tiles.
If we could simply draw the current player/monster tiles offset upwards half or quarter of a tile, I think that would be a significant improvement on current tiles display.
