First Stabbing, now Traps. I'm liking this trend of removing skills that are both 'peripheral' to main skilling focuses and predictable in how much they will be trained.

Edit: while looking over the commit logs, I notice that Pan has also been removed in the last few days.

That's a good change. Too bad I trained some Traps for Lair 8, I will not upgrade crawl because of that.

Let's remove all the unnecessary skills and just leave three: Fighting, Defensive abilities and Spellcasting

Huh, I would have preferred they added to the utility of the traps skill, maybe had ways to use the trap skill to actually make traps (say from parts of disarmed traps). Still, it's better not to have the trap skill than the way the trap skill is currently implemented.

I would say that as an OpWz, with no armor, traps is actually very important.
I don;t know whether that makes me object or not, though.

Took me less than a day to blunder into my first Zot trap thanks to traps skill being removed. Bastards.

Speedrunners will have serious problems. Stepping into a ZoT trap at XL 17 should not be rare

Just XP level alone (plus sight mutations) is terrible. Use some Dex and Int in there to make attributes relevant!

I'm glad the traps and stabbing skills are gone. That's two less things for me to fret over early-game when I'm trying to focus on "the right skills" that will take my character farther. ^^ I won't be blindly stumbling into arrow and spear traps at around D:7 or 8 for like 20 to 30 damage a pop either because I put off training up Traps until Lair, because by that point I'll have enough to actually spot most of them before hitting them-- and yes today I hit a Zot Trap in Vaults:1, but then again I might have not hit it. Must've been unlucky. :) It's a good change and I support it.
