Bikethreading Megashed

Bikeshedding is one of the most popular crawl pastimes. Please fill this thread with all the trivial nonsense you can think of!

Re: Bikeshedding megathread

Bikeshedding is less about mentioning trivial ideas and more about discussing them. In my opinion you should change your post to reflect this.

Actually I was thinking I should contact a mod to capitalize "megathread" in the title, which might keep people's attention on the fact that this thread encapsulates both ideas and discussion.

But more importantly, how does bikeshedding make you feel?

What?, Why, Grimm?

I think you're being too serious here. Or too mean, even. Please take your words back.

Re: Bikeshedding megathread

I think potion of porridge should be renamed to elixir of porridge, to differentiate it from non food potions. But is it true that all potions give satiety? Maybe that should be considered when going over this proposal. It is documented here at the very beginning at least, to save confusion down the line.

Wait, what? Clearly "Shedbiking threadmega" is a much better name.

Unarmed combat should be renamed to Pummeling with Fists of Fury in all cases. Any place where there is not enough space for that in the UI needs to completely rework the UI. The text size for the phrase should be twice that of all other text nearby.

Why do you like unarmed combat so much, tasonir?

Also, "Fist of Fury" summons the image of a berserker, and I don't like that. We need a more peaceful name.

I like it. At least it'll stop people from asking if UC skill affects aux attacks. Maybe. Hopefully.

The skill name should change depending on race/form. "Paws of Fury", "Tentacles of Fury", etc.

Fists of Faith?

Fists of Fabulousness?

Fists of Fedhas (turns enemies into plants)?

I mostly just like monks of any form in any game. Back when I played wow I played a feral druid (shapeshifter, uses claws). Ragnarok online I had a monk. Various muds I played had monks, and dragon characters. It isn't unique to dungeon crawl. In crawl, it does go well with shields, and I do like defensive characters. The only way to get a physical shield and not have to use a 1 handed weapon is unarmed.

This works well enough in the long term but the early game sucks for a quite a while since unarmed is a huge exp investment.

Wait, what? Clearly "Shedbiking threadmega" is a much better name.

We've already derailed into bikeshedding ABOUT the thread, so it should definitely be called "Bikeshedding Metathread".

I disagree. Since we just derailed into bikeshedding about meta-bikeshedding, it should be the "Bikeshedding Megametametathread"

I would say that bikeshedding is the platonic form of bandnaming, but bandnaming is a particularly hideous manifestation

Quokka Barn.

This is the eventual source of Spammals... it's an endless branch, like the Abyss, with the spawn rates cranked up to eleven. Only one level, containing the Pouched Rune of Zot. Summon Small Mammals creates a one-time, short lived gateway to the overcrowded Quokka Barn, and a number of its denizens fall out into the dungeon.

Donald should like some things. I'm a pretty cranky person, but even I have likes. And since he's part duck, can we make his symbol an H instead of an @? It would be more thematic.
