This is something I think about: this form of anonymous communication is not deathproof. If e.g. I died tomorrow, chances are none of you would ever find out. I'd just be gone. For all we know we've already lost less famous members in that way.

More likely KL is taking a break/raising a child/playing a better roguelike, but we don't know and can't find out, short of me adminning his email address and writing to him.

With your more general observation - that the forum is not deathproof - I agree. I have certainly wondered what has happened to people, including you, when they've disappeared for a while. But what to do? On the internet nobody know is you're a dog/ dead/ on vacation/ &c.

Oddly enough, somebody from another forum I frequent did die and we all found out about it. I'm sure thats not common but it was nice to know why said person stopped posting, despite how sad and tragic the circumstances were.

I am not dead, and also I am not Grinder. Sorry if anybody was actually worried; I wouldn't have thought anybody would even particularly notice that I was gone. I was distracted for a time by other shiny games, and I return now mostly because Crawl has some new shinies to look at. The new Vaults? Awesome. Depths? Fantastic. That's the really nice thing about having an active devteam. If any of those guys are slumming in CYC, thanks for all your work on the game. It really gets people to come back again and again.
