Don't you just LOVE crawl when it gives random layout?
Here I got a pic showing a reference to the tri-force from Legend of Zelda!

That doesn't seem like a random layout. Crawl has "vaults", pre-designed parts of a level that can be inserted into the random dungeon, to give it less of a random feel (some of the altars are a good example of this, but also things like the shark beach with human corpses, the old forge with damaged weapons, and many more). I don't remember this specific vault, but it looks like one to me.

D:1, right next to the point where I entered the dungeon: a 5x5 vault surrounded by transparent stone. In the middle, there is a 3x3 lake, with a neutral kraken. On the shore, there are various monsters: octopode, minotaur, draconian, felid, ogre, spriggan, vampire, naga, orc (only playable species). In the first few rounds, the kraken massacred them all, obviously.

  Code:
  ##............#  #
  #..#######....# .#
  #..#%%...#...[# .#
  #..#.???.#....#..#
  #<.#.???%#.<..#..##.#.
  #..#.X??.#...........[
  #..#.%...#....#..##.#.
  #..#######@...#..#
  ##.........##.# .#

X - kraken
? - water
% - corpses

In the dump:
  Code:
Vanquished Creatures (others)
  2 minotaurs (D:1)
  2 spriggans (D:1)
  An octopode (D:1)
  A vampire (D:1)
  A felid (D:1)
  An ogre (D:1)
  A centaur (D:1)
  A naga (D:1)
  A draconian (D:1)
  An orc (D:1)
  5 tentacles (D:1)
  15 tentacle segments (D:1)
32 creatures vanquished.

I've seen that one once. Obviously, I stuck around to watch the carnage.

It's good for players to know what's going to happen to them, I think.

I recommend we remove the transparant stone from this vault. Then, they will have no doubts as to what will happen to them.
