the Crawl/Turkish language connection

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

the Crawl/Turkish language connection

I've recently moved to Istanbul and noticed two interesting connections:
There's a (usually) delicious meal here named Iskender that I've mentally associated with our good wizard Iskenderun until I discovered that there is both a city and a specific cat that also share the same name.

Additionally, there's a city named Zonguldak, which called to mind the sword of Zonguldrok. I interact with a lot of people from different parts of Turkey in my job, and every time someone says they're from Zonguldak I assume they come from some kind of frightening undead kingdom in the east. The actual city is apparently pretty damn boring.

Anyone noticed other interesting language connections in Crawl? This is basically a useless post, hence CYC, but virtually nobody around here would give a shit about this information and I had to share it with somebody.

I also noticed the connection between Iskenderun and crawl, and I made a joke up about it.
Q: What do you call a fun Turkish wizard's party?
A: Iskenderun's mystic blast.
What made you happy today?

Iskenderun is one of the many cities named after Alexander the Great. Kandahar is another.

The origin of Zonguldak seems a little less clear, if El Wik can be trusted.
