a necronomicon in D:4

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

It happens. Mostly when you're playing a mele character (or when you're dead. :p). My 'zerkers find em all the time!

MfVM I'm guessing?

So... when you burn them is there a scream of thousand souls and green silhouettes rising from ashes? :o

It would be kind of humorous if burning special books netted some special effect. Mostly it's just satisfying. ;)

Hmm.

Burn a Necronomicon to get a single space of miasma.

Burn Demonology to abjure whatever is standing on it.

Burn Annihilations and get a radius-1 fireball.

Not that Troggies need much more help from the book burning ability...

Re: a necronomicon in D:4

I use it through the mid game, at least. Can be handy if you need to retreat and you've got something that won't cross a hallway blocked by fire. Also can be used to up your damage per turn against something big and nasty- drop a book in front of you, wait for the monster, ignite, and then mele it as it takes fire damage. But yes, eventually you use it much less.

...I'm tempted some day to take a room and build a fire trap. Cover the entire LOS with book, lure something there, and then ignite. Maybe pull Greyon + minions out of their hell into one of my own making?

I actually found that for the first time in D:4 (I'm thinking it was even earlier?) using a necromancer yesterday. Since I'm new to the game, I didn't think much of it and was never quite able to take advantage of "Haunt" before kicking the bucket to a hydra on D:12 or 14... can't remember.
