What you would do with the Orb of Zot

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

Yes, and any well educated droog knows better than to peet too much of it. Now a bit of the old moloko-plus, that's the thing.

New item proposal: clockwork orange.
"You see here a clockwork orange."
Eating one provides standard orange satiation and will either haste or slow you (50/50 chance).

Surely eating a clockwork orange, which superficially is indifferentiable from a normal orange, would cause you to go berserk?

Upon rewatching Trainspotting recently I clocked the ACO reference in the nightclub scene, and realised that there are numerous similarities between the two films. We have now come full circle.

Not so surprising: I believe Kubrick's ancestors changed their name from McKubrick when they arrived in the USA to avoid the stigma associated with Scottishness at that time.

More likely during the Clearances, when many Highlanders (and possibly some MDs, to whom they bear a passing resemblance) were forced out of their homes and off their land.

I thought the exiles after the clearances mostly ended up in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. You could find road signs there in Gaelic until ~25 years ago.
Edit, Gaelic, not Garlic. Damn auto-correct.

Re: What you would do with the Orb of Zot

I am to much of a bad player to get a character to win legitimate but i had some ideas for some characters:

1. DECj of Sif Muna: Being to scared of the wrath of the Pan Lords, espically Gloorx Vloq which rune she has simply stolen without killing him, she makes a deal with the shining One: The forces of light get some power from the Orb while they protect her from the forces of the Pandemoium.

2. DgEE: Uses the Orb to become a real god that goes neutral and defends his domiane with rains of crystal spears.

That's all i momnetarly have to tell.

I imagine my characters making it out, looking at the orb, and realizing they wasted their life because it doesn't do anything. Then they just throw it back down into the dungeon.

I can only think of one thing for which that would be the abbreviation. But I didn't think you could play one in Crawl - it would be tactically very interesting.

Re: What you would do with the Orb of Zot

Having descended to the depths and retrieved the ultimate symbol of power Basher de Bash, Minotaur Fighter of Okawaru, emerged from the depths so that all could admire and fear him. Yet soon this began to tire. There is no rest but in death and lord Okawaru must be appeased. The dungeon was no more. The corridors remained, but the portals to other realms were gone. Yet he had the Orb. If nothing else it would certainly attract attention. So Basher went out into the wilderness and called forth the power of the Orb. From the ground rose a great structure, a colosseum. A thousand thousand pigeons carried messages across the world. Let men come and test their mettle. Fight and die or win the Orb. Then he entered and waited. The battle had just begun.

If you're a worshipper, your god will beg for the power of Zot, thus you got two options give your god access to the power of Zot, or get excommunicated and be utterly annihilated.
