You used to have a "pool" of experience after killing monsters. This was unused exp. By doing stuff, it was allocated to the skill you had used to do said stuff. For instance, if you cast Magic Dart some of your pool experience would go into Conjurations. As a result, people would cast Magic Dart dozens of times against walls to put all of their pool into Conjurations. Or they would stand in front of rats for dozens of turns to put all of their pool into Dodging/Armour. And so on.

I miss those scrolls of detect curse because it helps dilute the RNG so your other scrolls don't get burned up.

Ive seen references to this victory dancing before. Can someone tell me what exactly it is?

Pretty soon, those of us who can remember it will be all nostalgic about it, even though we hated it at the time.

Other "am I really that old" moments:

• Re-watching a TV series, and observing the introduction(!) and evolution of cell phones.
• "So...I was reading this story and it had a game called PacMan in it? What was that?"
