And to further derail this thread...
I was just posting on FB how awesome Enterprise is compared to the rest of the franchise. Finished watching it a few weeks ago and started on Voyager... It feels like I'm watching Care Bears now that I've experienced the ST universe at its grittiest.
I started with Voyager first and am now a little over 2/3 of the way done with Enterprise. I enjoyed Voyager - it gradually gets better and better I assure you, but am not sure which I prefer. I'm noticing a lot of similarities that are tweaked slightly that I kind of like
Voyager
-female *role model* captain
-male vulcan
-alien addition (Neelix, who I always think of when I picture Nemelex)
Enterprise
-male *role model captain*
-female vulcan
-alien doctor
-many gender/race opposites with otherwise similar characteristics which I like. I enjoy comparing the captains. Many stereotypes are addressed in both series through various mediums (different species instead of races, futuristic settings for old and current earth conflicts)
-Similarities between Paris and Trip
-Flox very much reminds me of the Neelix
-Chakotae (spiritual role model) replaced by Malcom (British arms specialist)
-various unnamed crew members are VERY similar
-while enterprise seems more about the story, voyager was more about getting to know the characters (it seemed)
I could go on but I have homework to do and I'm very tired. Perhaps I'll update this posting later. Also you may be interested to note that Tom Morello played a crewman in the Voyager episode "Insurrection."
