Bad dream

I had a nightmare last night that Crawl added "haggling" to the game ...

The way it worked was that you could now actually sell stuff, but when you chose an item to sell, the merchant would offer a (low) price, to which you could in turn counter-offer. If the merchant weren't too offended, he would again counter offer, and so forth until you settle on a price.

If you, however offered something that was too high, he would be offended and kick you out of his shop, where you would then have to wait a period before you could go back and try again...

Has anyone else had crawl nightmares?

Re: Bad dream

I had a dream once where me and T'pol and possibly trip (star trek enterprise) and a friend of mine were being chased by owl-monkeys on a multileveled half-rotten dock in which I fired "needles" out of a rubberband like bow (silly dream-me.. needles are fired through blowguns) coated with a poison made from human feces (like the Vietnamese during the war) into their faces. (No idea where we obtained said poison) I don't really know how to explain it but it felt like crawl. The owl-monkeys were more or less Blink Frogs. They did not fly they "hopped." Maybe they were more of owl-frogs.

Don't judge me.

Dude... wtf AtT lol.

And to further derail this thread...

I was just posting on FB how awesome Enterprise is compared to the rest of the franchise. Finished watching it a few weeks ago and started on Voyager... It feels like I'm watching Care Bears now that I've experienced the ST universe at its grittiest.

I started with Voyager first and am now a little over 2/3 of the way done with Enterprise. I enjoyed Voyager - it gradually gets better and better I assure you, but am not sure which I prefer. I'm noticing a lot of similarities that are tweaked slightly that I kind of like
Voyager
-female *role model* captain
-male vulcan
-alien addition (Neelix, who I always think of when I picture Nemelex)
Enterprise
-male *role model captain*
-female vulcan
-alien doctor

-many gender/race opposites with otherwise similar characteristics which I like. I enjoy comparing the captains. Many stereotypes are addressed in both series through various mediums (different species instead of races, futuristic settings for old and current earth conflicts)
-Similarities between Paris and Trip
-Flox very much reminds me of the Neelix
-Chakotae (spiritual role model) replaced by Malcom (British arms specialist)
-various unnamed crew members are VERY similar
-while enterprise seems more about the story, voyager was more about getting to know the characters (it seemed)

I could go on but I have homework to do and I'm very tired. Perhaps I'll update this posting later. Also you may be interested to note that Tom Morello played a crewman in the Voyager episode "Insurrection."

...

I think I might be having a bad dream right now. Compared to TNG and DS9, Voyager is a poorly written program with weak plots, a bland, sessile cast, and a crippling addiction to maintaining the status quo, despite having every opportunity to run in entirely new directions. There were exactly two good things about Voyager, and they were both attached to Jeri Ryan. I'm not even going to get started on Enterprise. I'd be here all night fuming. Suffice to say it's genuinely distressing that your only interactions with the franchise are through its worst entries.

Seriously, the both of you. Go pick up TNG. You'll thank me later, I guarantee it.

Re: Bad dream

Not a dream, but I realized as I was falling asleep last night that Halo's needle gun sure seems like a clone of Half-Life's bee gun! (Note: I'm sure the bee gun has some other, more proper name, but I have no idea what it's really called, and it does fire little dart-shaped projectiles that home in on enemies and buzz...)

AtT: what the hell. What did you smoke before you went to bed? ;)

When I was a relative beginner, I would often dream that the good character I was currently playing in Crawl would die. I have no idea why it stopped (I still die a lot, for your information) but hey, can't complain.

Nowadays I frequently suffer from nightmares. Last night I dreamt I had badly mangled both my legs. The instant I woke up I felt for them. Upon noticing that actually they were both OK I nearly cried with relief. :|
In my defence I was half-asleep. Stuff like this happens often.

I actually know some people who used to occasionally eat Magic: the Gathering cards. Words of advice:
a) do not eat a foil card
b) do not eat a booster wrapper (no idea why anybody even tried that)
c) do not eat old cards, as 10-15 years of nerd handling is not an improvement.

And to that I say WTF.

Once I had a really bizarre half-remembered dream about Crawl. It was definitely Crawl, even though the tileset I was looking at resembled the Mushroom tileset from ToME more than anything else. I forget.

Re: Bad dream

I had a crawl dream. My character was apparently on zot:6, although it looked more like crypt, and neither I nor the monsters were high level. :?: There were lots of undead. The layout was strange, with a fairly regular, grid-like array of square rooms linked by single width corridors. It was a little larger than usual levels. Either the walls were stone, or it was in black and white.
It was in console mode, no tiles. I was enjoying the game.

Re: Bad dream

A thread like this really has to exist?

I have nightmares occasionally about Xom. I'll seriously wake up thinking I heard a booming voice or laughter or something, and once or twice now, I've sworn I was mutated. One time, just to be safe, when I woke up because I thought I heard the word "bored" I quaffed the water I keep next to my bed, and stopped moving so he would think it was paralysis and be amused.
The above post is for entertainment purposes only. If you think anything I ever say is backed by fact, or if you cite things I've said in any argument ever, you are insane.

Re: Bad dream

Blyxx casts Raise Dead Thread.
The "Bad dream" thread is bumping!

I had a dream last night that some unusual caverns were being discovered all over the world. They were full of rooms and passages, and items had been found inside, wands made of different materials, bottles with strange liquids inside, indecipherable scrolls, that sort of thing. The military started to lock down these sites when they realized that some of these items were weaponized, and could create things like explosions and blasts of electricity, but another organization realized what was going on too and didn't want this stuff to fall into the hands of the military. This organization started gathering crawl players together and sending them into these sites to stop the military, and I was one of these. Most of the dream was spent running around in dimly lit caverns grabbing items and trying to avoid the soldiers. The most intense moment in the dream was when one of the other crawl players zapped an unidentified wand at a soldier. The soldier got a stricken look on his face and then everything on him started to dissolve and he sort of melted and became a jelly. The other soldiers all started shooting at him/it, and the crawlers were able to retreat. Polymorph. Scary stuff.

When I woke up, I thought this would be a cool thing to post about, but as I ran the dream back through my head, it reminded me of the plot of a movie I saw. Any other anime fans here? Check this out: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0164917/

I think my subconscious mind just made a pun.
