DCSS on huge screens?

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

DCSS on huge screens?

Okay, I have this bizarre fantasy of playing DCSS on a massive screen.

Has anyone done this? What's the biggest screen you've played DCSS on, and was it awesome?

This also makes me think - there should be sound effects. I want to hear explosions! I mean, once you have a system that can handle the graphics of the Tiles version, the sky's the limit!

Yeah man, that's what I'm talking about!

Seriously though, has anyone for kicks, or just because it's their main computer, played DCSS on a huge screen?

Re: DCSS on huge screens?

My TV at home (65" widescreen DLP) has a PC hooked up to the HDMI port, nominally for home theater purposes.

Occasionally I play tiles on it.

It's ok. Plus side: Big screen, I can actually see what the tiles are. Minuses: mousing is awkward without a desk; the bluetooth keyboard has no numpad, and I'm awkward with the vi movement keys; and the wife gets annoyed when I monopolize the TV for gaming.

He has a toddler now. That changes one's aspirations a bit.

So do I. Playing a game on a big screen still seems like a fairly mundane, rather than bizarre, aspiration.

It starts with you, an assortment of merfolk, a plentiful supply of melange, a vat of weapons-grade lubricant, and a dentist's chair. I'll leave it at that.

I agree, it is a very mundane fantasy. That's what makes it so bizarre as a fantasy.

I see what you mean - but in that case you would need to call it a "bizarre bizarre fantasy."

I'm not sure how far you could extend this "so-wild-it's-dull!" thing, though. I wouldn't claim to have a really freaky and non-conformist lifestyle on the basis that "my lifestyle is very straight and ordinary - but it's so straight it's weird, see?"

Not necessarily. The word "fantasy" itself already suggests ...

Okay, now I'm boring myself. Never mind.

Yeah, it takes stamina to keep up with CYC's dynamic duo.

That might be interesting to watch on a wide screen.

Re: DCSS on huge screens?

i had a dream where me and my brother (i don't have a brother) got a job as highschool teachers. however my brother was arrested on the first day for carrying a nuclear bomb. he was arrested by doctors, not cops.
i didn't care and started flirting with the medicine teacher (go figure). which was strange because she was the absolutely stereotypical blond-hair-blue-eyes beauty type i don't really like. by the way i also hate vanilla ice cream. anyway we were walking along this corridor past the headmaster's office. some idiot had left the door open, so the headmaster was in our LoS. he attacked us with a sling and hit me for ca. half my health in one shot. i ran away. he took the medicine teacher into his office.
i approach the end of the corridor with the headmaster now hard on my heels and swing into a big hall. i jump up to the window-sill and see that it is snowing outside. the headmaster comes into the room.
he tells me "this is no highschool for pussies, if you want to teach here you better quaff-ID heal wounds." he pronounced "quaff" wrong by the way. i did precisely that, and the potion healed me over 100% maxhp. i jumped down and defeated the headmaster, apparently they aren't very strong in melee. i was using a +4/+2 vorpal battleaxe by the way.
i went back to the headmaster's office and congratulated the medicine teacher on making it out in one piece.
(apparently reading frank mccourt's "teacher man" gives you weird dreams)

i also had a dream a few months ago that was short and sweet (i don't know if i have posted it here before though), i had rented a room in a hotel. when i came to the reception there was a clown standing there instead of the manager. he reached for my key and looked at it, then said that my room number corresponded to my IQ. the number was double-digited but i don't remember it exactly. then i woke up.

also i once had a dream where i was discussing sex with faeries with minmay, apparently i got his hair colour and length right, however i've never actually had any faeries in my dreams if i remember correctly, which is sad

another good one was when i was in my own highschool and someone had turned the grounds into a beach. i was walking along this beach with a girl in my year whom i have very mixed feelings towards. all you really need to know about her character is the comment "one should be ashamed of AAB" referring to grades* (she used the german equivalent (she had AAB this year so obviously i am filled with immature joy (AAA* bitch))). anyway i was trying to convince her an A- i got in english had been unfairly graded. she wasn't buying it. while we were talking more and more huge insects and arachnids and centipeds (i am really really scared of them even when they are normally sized) were crawling beneath our feet and over the sand. it was horrible.
*arrogance is curiously attractive, see pip in great expectations and his reaction to meeting estella

i wish i could give freud a ring, also if anyone wants to troll me, now they probably have enough material for my lifetime

On first reading I thought that said "having" rather than "discussing". That was a gut-clenching moment but fortunately it passed quickly upon re-reading.

I am pleased that my dreams do not resemble something from Naked Lunch in this way.

"Made it" as in got to that point in the game, or "made it" as in showed up in the level? The latter sounds more nightmarish.
