99 Orbs of Fire vs Cerebov

And Cerebov wins by a land slide. I'm not kidding. I was scared of taking that guy on already, but now my reasons became just a bit more legitimate...

The orbs can't do sh1t to him, obviously. Cerebov is immune to fire.

Is there any arena matchup where Cerebov doesn't just immediately clown on his entire opposition?

Re: 99 Orbs of Fire vs Cerebov

Mennas can take him down to half HP pretty quickly but so far hasn't won. Three pearl dragons kicked his ass and three daevas almost did as well until they became distracted by summons. Cerebov usually beats him, but a fight between him and Lom Lobon is pretty epic (and explosive). Mara stands a chance if he can clone Cerebov before he gets blown up, but he's usually dead at the conclusion of the battle either way.

Wait, Mara can clone Cerebov? There's code for Mara making player ghosts of non players?

As already noted, Cerebov is immune to fire. Orbs of fire are a rather unique enemy in that they can *only* do fire damage. They don't even have spells that do mixed damage... it's pure fire. This is why rF+++ is so nice in Zot.

TRJ can defeat Cerebov if he\she\it really lucks out (managed to pull it off once in 0.9). Mnoleg can sometimes kill Cerebov by summonspamming.

A orb of fire is defeated by a earth elemental.

Indeed. Incidentally, this makes summon elemental a somewhat decent zot spell, for its cost.

Hum. For those semi-rare wandering OoF, I suppose. Kind of hard to bring to bare in the orb chamber- you'd have to mine for elementals outside, and then herd them in. By the time you get them into the lungs they'll start expiring, or getting killed by things with non-fire attacks. :/

Re: 99 Orbs of Fire vs Cerebov

channel then.
hyperbolic's ddpr zot strategy was summoning like 40 earth elementals, buff up, teleport, recall.
at a cost of 4 mp it would even work with pots of magic or ambrosia.
Wins: DDBe (3 runes, morgue file)

Hasted Mennas with +9, +9 Executioner's Axe of Holy Wrath can probably kill him.

Is there a way to set up this encounter?

I don't know if it works in local crawl, but online you do
!fight mennas perm_ench:haste;executioner's axe ego:holy_wrath plus:9 plus2:9 v cerebov

He does better with his regular equipment, though.

99 sheep vs. an orb of fire.

Because sheep are more dangerous than Cerebov.

99 sheep vs a few mottled dragons = hilarity.

Try hellion v 99 orbs of fire and watch it to the end. Nice to see hellion using its weak melee like there was no tomorrow.

Oh.. I tried it locally with 0.8.0 version and hellion was always unaffected.
So it was another inaccurate post by me :)

I've done this a few times and TRJ dominated each time. TRJ has a habit of retreating behind the slimes that he summons, and the summons wear Cerebov down

I actually haven't found an opponent that can beat TRJ consistently
