Looks like TOME is running away with it, and I don't know if I've ever heard of it.

DCSS is one of the few others to break the 1% barrier though.

Total votes cast is only 255 so far, so if all our 78 users go vote we could really push DCSS up!

Cast my vote. Never tried TOME so I'm not even torn...

I note that it's possible to vote more than once.

Also, we are now a mere three votes behind TOME (each about 30% of the poll)

Others that are getting above the 1-2% range are:
Dwarf Fortress
Rogue Survivor
Doom RL
Angband

Well, it is obviously cheap to vote more than once. I'd be unhappy if Crawl won that way.

How? I voted and now I see a "change your vote" option.

I'm not sure. I voted a few days ago, and it let me vote again today. Maybe it sets a cookie or something, but I thought even on the asciidreams page it says people can vote multiple times.

Try using different browsers / computers.

I know, I wouldn't have said this except I thought it said something on Ascii dreams that sounded like they didn't care if people voted multiple times.

EDIT - correction: I went back and I must have been reading too fast - they just say that you can vote for multiple different roguelikes. So never mind. Only vote once please.

Well, multivoting or no, Crawl's now 3 points in the lead! Yay!

'Course, the scientist in me says it doesn't matter, since the delta in the scores must be less than the uncertainties. ;)

It matters because the winner will get some publicity. It won't prove anything, you're right.

I think I just tied DCSS with ToME. They're both at 249 now. I liked the old ToME, but this new one turned me off within about a minute.

The new ToMe sucks. Voted some time ago.

TOME must have some dedicated fan base - it's pulling into the lead again (295 to 277).

17 hours left to vote.

Well, TOME came out on top in the end, they suddenly got a bunch more votes and beat DCSS 39% to 29%. Still, a respectable showing!

Their forum has also probably been going longer than this one (didn't this one just migrate from somewhere else?) and so they had more people aware of the voting. Bad timing for DCSS.

Hello all (yes that's ToME's darkgod)

Yes tome forums are now real old, started in 2002 :)

I'd like to know what you people that "tried it one min and hated it", hated about ToME4 ? Constructive criticism is always welcome.

Anyway, this was a fun competition, we shall battle again in one year I suppose ;)

Congratulations to the win!

It's very good to see active roguelike development. I have very little experience outside Nethack and Crawl; is it true that ToME continues along the Angband branch of the genre? (Which is very good in its own right, of course.)

Hard to get... especially by prejudiced folks (because they think they know the best game of the genre already -- this applies to all genres, and all games). I have to say that the comments I saw regarding Crawl on the ToME forum were nicer.

Absolutely!

Indeed, we are all only humans after all (mhh, are we ? )

As for T4, it's more of its own branch now. Kinda a blend of RL & CRPG I suppose, with quests, plots and all but still relative free-form play, only a few zones&quests are required to progress, all the rest is optional and tries to adapt to the player to always propose a challenge (within reason of course).
But i have a fun side project of reimplementing rogue & angband using the TE4 engine :)
