[0.8] interesting uses for clinging?

Whee!

My Transmuter has figured out that Spider Form hasn't been so much nerfed, as made quite differently useful.

Anyone come up with really cunning uses for clinging to walls, yet?

I still don't get what exactly it's even suppose to [i]do[i]. First time I saw it I was like "ok so I'm a spider and now I cling to walls. So?"

I still haven't managed to get an answer.

It's almost the same as levitation. You can cross deep water and lava, don't get movement penalty and fumbling attacks in shallow water.

I don't think it's a very worthwhile feature. You do, in fact, still fumble while over shallow water (although that's a bug), and it's not really distinct from Levitation/Flight in any interesting way other than some slight restrictions as to where you can use it. I'd rather it just be a monster thing instead of creating extra clutter and adding an unnecessary gimmick to a perfectly good spell.

I did use it once to get to an overflow altar surrounded by water though, I guess.

Wall clinging for players in spider form is a minor effect, it will only be rarely useful. We added it because it can make monsters spider a lot more interesting. Granted, this needs vaults, but will come. (Especially since there's the Spider protobranch around.)

I'm having fun with it!

Although, maybe I just like being a humoungous spider a little bit too much.
