One of the reasons I really like DC:SS is all the wonderful lines of text that are generated. Here are some of my favorite lines of text.
"You quiver within your mortal coil, caressed by the liquid insanity through the scintillating gateway."
"This raw flesh tastes like chicken."
And "Go forth and redecorate."
I really like all these lines of text and I am wondering what lines of text you've found and liked.
Edit, I just found a line that I like. "A unseen horror comes into view."

"This raw flesh tastes like chicken." is a line you occasionally get when you eat a chunk.
"Go forth and redecorate." is one of Xom's actions.

I thought it were two shapeshifters in form of slime creatures who, upon merging, somewhat formed an orc warrior.

As much as I adore every little facet of this game, I never really notice what is being said. Perhaps this is better relegated to the GAME DESIGN DISCUSSION section, but I think it would be nice if a small window popped up on screen every time a monster says something. Or maybe some other, non-obtrusive presentation.

Good lord no! Popups would be a horrible idea in Crawl, as they are in net advertising (there's a reason every sane person has AdBlock+). Not to mention it just wouldn't work in console.

Just pay attention to the message window each turn. Some good stuff can be read there.

I stopped and went, "D'awwwww!"

Later he was killed by an unseen horror. I quivered with despair imagining the look that might have been on his face as invisible limbs tortured him to death one sickening crunch after another... >_<

I've always found the ghoul rotten chunk messages to be hilarious.

Well, it does let you enter the dungeon. Honestly, there have to be bridges you could jump off of with higher survival rates .
