Coffee or tea is a potion of brilliance: good enough to last through temporary INT rot, but a poor choice for long-term survival if you're off of your maximum.

Strong coffee or an energy drink is a potion of berserk rage: hyper-increased performance for a short time, but the crash afterward can put you in mortal danger as your reaction speed and thought processes are slowed down.

Most sodas are potions of degeneration. Mountain Dew is a potion of decay. (A friend of mine used to be a three-can-a-day Dew drinker and had to stop when he developed an ulcer.)

Potions of water here, please. No game functionality but you don't feel any worse for doing so, and there's a mild psychological boost.

Water from a gatorade bottle. Crawl is more of an endurance game than a game involving short bursts of high energy, such as other game like call of dutyfield where caffeine may be advantageous, at least for a short period of time. I personally believe that caffeine ultimately has a net negative effect on your abilities in any situation.
