Favorite games? Besides Crawl

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

Favorite games? Besides Crawl

What other games besides crawl do you always find yourself drawn back to?

For me it's Morrowind, because of the story, atmosphere, and funly exploitable brokenness.
Stronghold Crusader, because it is a nice change of pace into a strategy game that isn't stressful, interesting funny characters, great replay ability.
I have played Gunz before on a few separate occasions, though I doubt I'll ever go back to this one. Fun 3rd person shooter with movement/time-delay exploits the norm creating a completely unique playstyle.

Aquaria.

Space Rangers 2: Reboot. It is more than just a role-playing game.

Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. It is easy, it is colourful. =)

Worms World Party. Its voice banks helped me with English pronunciation a bit, and the game itself is unusual fun.

Break Quest. Even though it is no longer sold, it is still the best arkanoid I have seen, with music by Maniacs of Noise (Wave, DRAX and others).

Psychonauts.

Iji.

Have you forgotten the first commandment of Crawl?

"Thou shalt have no other games before me."

The games I spent the most time on are probably Baldur's Gate 2 and Warcraft 3 custom maps. Titan Quest and Diablo 2 (MedianXL mod) might come close. I also really liked Mass Effect 2, Unreal Tournament and Super Meat Boy.

Always go back to Alpha Centauri, or more recently the Civilization 4 Alpha Centauri mod. If I'm not in a strategy mood then Mount and Blade gets the blood pumping.

Civ IV, Master of Orion II, Hearts of Iron II, Sangband (Angband variant with skills instead of classes.)

Edit: and Dwarf Fortress of course, though these days I seem to spend more time reading the forum than actually playing it.

Dwarf Fortress, Alpha Centauri, and Simcity 4 (if I can find the disk >.>).

You continue butchering the corpse.
You are engulfed in roaring flames. You stop butchering the corpse.

I second Aquaria.

The Prince of Persia series, particularly Sands of Time and Two Thrones.

The Tales series is pretty good; at least the few games I've played have been.

Defense Grid is a great Tower Defense game.

PS. There's another Humble Bundle going on, so you can get Aquaria and other games for cheap.

The World Ends With You -- absolutely brilliant action RPG; if you have a DS, this is a mandatory purchase. If you don't have a DS, get one and then play this.
Minecraft -- needs no introduction
Zelda - Twilight Princess -- I like Zelda. I like wolves. Put those two hands together.
Dragon Quest IX -- perhaps my single most-played game. I put 200+ hours into it before getting bored.

In terms of gameplay I'd say Alpha Centauri with the expansion.
In terms of storyline Planescape Torment.
And Fallout 2 might be one of the best games ever created.

I don't really care about 3d games... which is 99% of the games nowadays.

Re: Favorite games? Besides Crawl

Desktop Dungeons - Played the crap out of their Alpha, can't wait for the Beta to be released.
Pokemon commercial games (that means no mystery dungeon or whathaveyou) - Even though they are kinda lame, I still like playing them for the sheer satisfaction of getting a Charizard transferred from my Leaf Green into the Black/White versions. Oh, and breeding. It's fun.
Minecraft - Not much to explain. The first time I played it was awesome. It was in an arctic biome back in 1.3 and I just dug me a hole in the dirt to stay the night then I didn't have any light cause I didn't know how to make torches and so I had to remain in total darkness for the night, lol. Spiders and shit crawling everywhere outside. Ah... Survival FTW. Especially if you have some good friends that want to RP a bit.
Kongregate - When you feel that urge to get an achievement for the day.
Plants vs. Zombies - Thx for reminding me, Jabberwocky! (see the post below) :P

Team Fortress 2. First person shooter with a strong sense of humor. (Shorn Connery is one of the achievements names.)
Age of Mythology. RTS, again there is a sense of humor in the game.
Plant vs Zombies. Quite indescribable really.
And a old favorite. The Logical Journey of the Zoombinis. Quite a fiendishly tricky puzzle game.
What made you happy today?

Quest for Glory II: Trial by Fire. Atmosphere, gameplay, music, art design, and in that new (free) AGD remake the combat system, everything, simply brilliant.

I'm currently having a lot of fun with Desktop Dungeons too. It's a great concept.

Anything by RocketCat. Hook Champ was amazing, and they just got better.

I don't love them enough to get a new iPhone contract, though :P
