Strictly speaking this is off-topic, as this last one shows things NOT sighted in the dungeon.

But I'll let it slide...

When I went downstairs an altar of Lugonu appeared out of nowhere with a manual of spellcasting. Apparently, Lugonu was trying to tempt my Trog worshiper to switch. Too bad my dwarf was killed shortly afterwards by a wand of paralysis.

What the fuck, how do I go in there? I searched for something like 100~200 turns and I haven't found a door yet. What, do I just hope I run into a scroll of blinking and until then I'm just screwed and should go without a god? I'm sorry, but who the hell designed all these Temple vaults?

Re: Odd things sighted in dungeon.

Blinking doesn't go through glass walls, so that wouldn't work.

I haven't seen this vault myself, but there's gotta be a door. Have you tried the other walls yet? That to the right of the temple stairs is where I'd look (though you'd have to go down, up and around to get there). If the fails, try searching in that narrow corridor on the left, on against the south wall.

Ah yeah, it was on the opposite wall of the temple. Also the temple itself is one I don't think I've seen before, with a giant pool in the middle, surrounded by glass, and lots of angry sea monsters.

A treasure mini-vault. Except with no guards and only randomly generated traps. Usually there'd be a bunch of somethings hanging out there.

While I've seen a vault full of a type of enemy, I've never seen one that was so secure. That door was hidden.

Man I hate that vault with deep water or lava around an altar. I think the game actually checks what your character is so it generates the most useful altar for your character in there just to spite you.

Jenx has captured a monster spawning. This is how they appear on levels - by popping out of thin air. Usually they do it when you're not around. I saw a snake do this a couple months ago but didn't screenshot it.

Re: Odd things sighted in dungeon.

I didn't take a screenshot of it (now I wish I had), but I found this vault that actually creeped me out a little.

It was a ~3-4 tile wide hall COVERED in blood splatter. On most of the floor tiles, wall tiles, etc. There were short bladed weapons strewn about everywhere. At first I was expecting a trog altar or something, but I went to the end of this hall and it was just empty. I searched for secret doors and only found one that lead to an adjacent room.

I'm still a little creeped about what the point of the vault was. It looked like a serial killer or someone had gone nuts in there!

Re: Odd things sighted in dungeon.

Another creepy one: The Ely altar with water corners, 4 trees and a friendly quokka... except that there was a quokka corpse and two more corpses and nothing in sight what could have killed them, no traps to be found either; but all still warm when I found the place.

And I never noticed before that monsters spawned in that big Xom vault with traps and glass walls seem to get chaos branded weapons, nice touch. Too bad I never dare use them anymore after getting shafted a bit too often.

I accidentally distortion teleported the boss of this wizlab out of bounds where I can't get him. ...and I'm pretty sure that he's wearing the the robe of the clouds. Opps. I'm thinking I'm going to corrupt my way through the wall after him.

Re: Odd things sighted in dungeon.

In his mouse over description, you can tell he's wearing some kind of artifact robe, it's a cloud themed wizlab, he's a cloud mage, and I'm pretty sure that flimsy robe equals robe of clouds.

In case anyone's curious as to how it went: while I was standing there, Emig dropped a poison cloud on himself. And then confused himself. I laughed, and then corrupted the level. Lugonu failed to eat through the glass wall, but did produce floor to kill the mage on. I ctele-ed over to he other side, but by the time I got there, Emig had pissed off a Hellion and been incinerated. I apported the loot, ctele-ed to the exit, and left.

And it was the robe of the clouds I made off with. ;)
Apparently the rain clouds don't appear when a monster wears them for some reason (maybe to prevent the stationary boss from flooding the path to the loot chamber? That would be very annoying if you lacked lev).

Re: Odd things sighted in dungeon.

I just did that same wizlab and got the same robe. +3, rElec, +Lev. This would go really nicely with an amulet of controlled flight. +Lev seems to give permanent levitation, which is handy so that you are not standing in water to fight, but meanwhile the monsters around you are wallowing in shallow water. A very clever fixedart!

Question: can the rain generate deep water, or just shallow water? I hope just shallow, because suddenly submerging my stash in deep water would really suck. I guess I can just take it off before visiting my stash if that's the case, I'd just like to know if I have to take that precaution.

Re: Odd things sighted in dungeon.

It creates shallow water at 1st but if u stay on same place too long another rain cloud on same spot creates deep water tile from shallow water. Its best fixed art for merfolk as u cant control where the water tiles will be. Even 1 water tile in is enough for merfolk EV bonus.
