It mutated itself -- it started life as a dragon slaying brand and got morphed.

I thought slaying rings could only go as high as +8 on each stat.

I've seen a -1/+12 Ring of Slaying once, I think. Might be remembering it wrong though.

I heard that as part of the slaying nerf, the maximum slaying numbers were increased to +9/+0 or +0,+9

Poor Ghoul died to overconfidence (incident involving a hill giant) shortly after. Well, after the slaying nerf the ring pretty much sucks anyway. :(

More commonly "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." It is a modification of sentiments expressed in the book of Proverbs, for example Proverbs 17:28: "Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

Apparently, confusion doesn't just cause a creature to attack itself, it can cause it to constrict itself. I wanted to see if it would remain constricted even after the confusion wore off, but it constricted itself to death before then.

P.S. Confusing Touch is awesome, and confusing the monster holding you is a great way to get out of constriction.

When dungeon design gets lazy...

Ah yeah, I always learn confusing touch on non Troglodyte Trolls of mine.

Here's something I see for the first time. (No mimics as you can see I stepped over both staircases)

There were no Orcs near the stairs, only a pack of yaks.

There's a little raised lip around the top of stairwells. It's what prevents undead - they can't raise their feet high enough - and lava and water from coming down the stairs.

Sure it _works_ fine per se in console. It's the graphical image that made me laugh, and I, for one, probably would not imagine it this way in ASCII. For me, this beach is an undisputed win for tiles :).

Even though I don't play console, I made sure that the vault still worked in it. IIRC the beach tiles appear as light brown in console, same as the floor in Shoals.

I understand there are plans to create unique shops in vaults (set inventories, maybe?) and the abandoned shop is a test case for the code.
