Re: Tiles inspirations

Careful, now the Copyright (or would it be a Trademark) police is going to shut the game down. CDO will stand for "Cease and Desist Order".

Who created the tile? It's pretty obviously based on the graphic above (or they are both stolen from the same 3rd source). Now I want to know the story!

Re: Tiles inspirations

You probably don't have to worry about it, seeing as how Interplay made that game and they've been out of business for a while.

Re: Tiles inspirations

I wasn't really worried.

But I am genuinely curious about exactly how that tile came to resemble that symbol.

Was based on this pic of a shark:

The second picture is of a cinquedea, a specific type of shortsword.

Re: Tiles inspirations

Huh. That's surprisingly dead on.

Though the weird rectangular grid on the blade makes it look like it's built of legos to me. And the hilt is full of gears.

hahaha yeah steampunk! top strip: http://www.harkavagrant.com/index.php?id=266

That's surely the most elaborate blood gutter ever.

That tile had always looked more like a dagger than a shortsword to me so I was pleased to run across that image on the Wik.

There's another shortsword tile that's obviously a gladius.

I actually really don't like that short sword tile, and I instinctively assume that the other ones are better.

Not a tile inspiration per se but there is precedent for having yaks in a dungeon:

Fighting Fantasy creatures on a side note are amazing. Six armed intelligent monkey thieves make me happy.

Re: Tiles inspirations

Nice one.

Now, the Fire Crab may be an obscure reference to a bit of Chinese punnery:

Qian Lie Xie
Qian Lie Xie (潜烈蟹, Qián Liè Xiè), literally "Hidden Fiery Crab", closely resembles qián liè xiàn (前列腺), which translates to prostate glands. According to the article, this is a legendary crab that once stopped up the Grand Canal (referring to the urinary tract).

Last night I was listening to a girl read Dahl's The Big Friendly Giant to her brother. The word "snozzcumber" was spoken. And by goodness that's where it's from.

Roald was a fan of snozzes in general; as there were also Snozzberries in Willie Wonka's Chocolate Factory. Although Snozzberries are apparently a euphanism for penises, so yeah.

Now we just need a bad mutation called 'The Shrinks' (from the Twits) and you'll be set.

As soon as I saw "snozzcumber" in-game, I thought of "snozzberrries" and immediately googled "snozzcumber".
