Me? I remember VHS vs Beta-max, our first VCR weighed in at over 20 lbs and was about four or five times the size of the standard PC is these days. Then there was the beginning of mass-commercially available microwaves (holy shit popcorn without an airpop system?!), home gaming consuls (oh Atari, how I miss tank and pong), PC's (who _didnt_ play "The Oregon Trail" on their Commodore 64?), and as for cassette tapes, my mom had plenty of 8-tracks lying around the house still. The internet hadn't even been born yet, still relish the days of dial-up 2400 modems to a two line bbs, where you played Usurper, the precurser to MUDS, arguably the precurser to roguelikes. In those days, you 'downloaded' a file named 245a_b8.jpg, waited HALF AN HOUR, and prayed that the line by line real-time downloading would reveal a boob or some skin. It was a pretty good shot, as in those days all files available online were 75% technical data 25% porn. Seriously, how come there isnt an agebracket called "old fucker" on this poll?

cassette usually refers to the audio type, as video cassettes were usually called "tapes" or just "movies", tho tape and cassette is entirely interchangeable for both. If you dont know about cassettes, then you dont know the true joy of listening to a walkman as the batteries die, or using a pencil eraser to un-fubar your favorite album. Oh analogue, where would we be without you?`

That and my burning love for Jellies has nothing to do with my orientation. n_n It's hard to explain, but... the thought of their thick, gelatinous form melding to my shape to grip me firmly, combined with the burning heat from the acid... it just gets me so excited. ♥ I don't think I'd like getting my flesh dissolved away, but say if I had a magical protection from acid dissolving, there would just be the heat and the tingling and the comforting pressure of its grip. That and... Jellies are such curious creatures. First glance you would think they're just a mindless monster... but, there's Jivya, so it's like underneath its quivering mass there's an actual consciousness and a soul and a heart. And on instinct I want to go to it and comfort it, and feel a bond form with it, and nurture that bond.

In actual Crawl though, things are different. I usually prioritize destroying them above EVERYTHING because I don't want them to snatch up all the items on the level before I do. ;_; I save my fantasies for when I'm not playing Crawl, otherwise my characters die.

Also in terms of the psychological import of age thresholds, the poll should break age groups at the -9, not the -0. So:

While most of the ranges account for this, it's impossible to be 10 years old. <10 and then the next range starts at 11; I now believe that all of the users who said it's rude to ask a lady are instead hyper rational 10 year olds who could not pick any other valid response. Not that I don't think we have female players (we do) but I imagine they'd probably be willing to anonymously submit their age.

Actually, recent scientific innovations have uncovered a formula, wherein by inputting someone's age at some point in the past, along with how much time has passed since that point, can reveal within 6-22 decades their current age!

So, for example, knowing someone was 25 years old, 5 months ago... carry the ampersand... divide by the square root of i...
The answer is... between -80 and 200 years old. Of course, that's not taking relative time dilation into account, but I wouldn't want to confuse anyone.

It's really amazing what those scientists can accomplish these days.

I've heard rumblings of a similar formula that works in reverse. Meaning if you know someone's age now, you could calculate how old they used to be. Simply amazing.
