Its been a while since Tavern got updated about realtime speedrunning, while theres still action an constant improvement, now with Lici getting almost sub 20 and a new WR:

some months ago Flugkiller already came 1 second close to beating the current WR of 21:31, with a 21:32 game:

Are there any rules about the version of DCSS used? I see this new record is in trunk, but other speedrunners use various older versions, right?

no the rules are blank whats stated on Ultraviolent4's website (no version mentioned), and for realtime i dont think it would be better to use older versions since now food removal + cblink in zot and other QoL changes def are p good. all ppl i know of run trunk (0.26 now) simply for realtime

the 15 runes turncounts are in 0.21 and i've heard some ppl favour a "by version" scoring system bcz runs arent easily comparable of course. on the other hand the competition for "COMBO SCOREs" is already low enough a lot of combos still are in the <20 million region so no one really tried in all those years.
i have no strong opinion there

the 3 runes TC record by sapher is in trunk again DDFi of ru, the new evocables and other changes make it competetive there

Eh, mostly in fun. Though, I suspect most people --- even most regular players --- couldn't do what these are doing. But, obviously, not the most important thing in the world.
