Items on permanent teleport traps

What's the trick for getting items off of permanent teleport traps (particularly if one doesn't use spells; I only play Fighters)?

Put on an item with -tele. You could also memorize apportation and take your armor off to cast it.

Hellmonk is right. Also, it's worth noting that even if you only play Fighters, you can (and should) pick up a few low-level spells once you have your main offensive/defensive skills in place. The utility they provide is well worth the XP cost.

The idea that you need to put experience into it's skill to make use of something is one of the biggest traps in DCSS, even with low intelligence and no spell training a naked character with time for a few attempts could get an item off a teleport trap with apportation. Potions of brilliance and rings of wizardry are also things.

Or memorize and cast a higher level Translocations spell until you get -Tele from a miscast. (Warning: other annoying miscast effects are possible, including banishment.)
