In no particular order...


1. Crimson imp. Basically harmless, but annoyingly hard to kill for its level (especially for fire elementalists), and blocks autotravel.

2. Red devil. Crimson imp v2.0. Tougher, and can drop a nice trident, but still much more annoying to kill than actually harmful.

3. Golden eye. Pure resistance check. Completely harmless (and even helpful in some cases) if you have the resistance. Can be completely incapacitating otherwise (especially as they come in packs).

4. Floating eye. Golden eye v2.0. Can't be resisted, induces the "oop, you're automatically paralyzed and now you're dead" situation that people tend to hate.

5. Hungry ghost. "Waste turns eating: the monster." The physical embodiment of a more annoying slow or root spell.

Iron dragons and bone dragons are very similar to fight. If iron dragons are considerably stronger, maybe, rather than their own dragon species, they can become the hardcore versions of bone dragons, something like "boner dragons" .

Annoying to deal with and suffers from the same "drop everything on another floor" problem that item destruction used to have, plus you can intentionally have him steal certain items to get an advantage (steal wand of poly to turn your mushrooms into oklobs, steal rings of fire/ice to make him weak to your elemental attacks)

Just paralyse maurice and be done with it. I disagree it's annoying to deal with: it's tricky, but then what's the point to make a long game where everything is solved by brute force? Having a few enemies that provide different experiences is fun.

I agree with hellmonk's list, aside from the avatar. Short of trying to starve you out in labyrinth or something hungry ghosts don't do much of anything. The other monsters are more annoying and would be higher on my list, however. They

- Are only threatening in extremely rare cases.
- Can be very annoying to tab to death, even on completely cleared floors.
- Are also annoying to kill with ranged if they keep randomly going over deep water and you want to conserve ammunition, switching between tabs and f. macros.
- Tend to blink off screen, further interrupting game pace.
- Tend to be trivial to disengage since they move away all the time (merfolk avatar's strategy makes more sense coupled with mes and thus might actually require the player to try to get away, the others have nothing).
