What Gell's Gravitas actually does

The spell attempts to drag every creature that can see the target closer to the target. Stationary creatures (plants, spires, roxanne, etc.) and the caster do not get dragged anywhere, nor does anyone standing at the target.

Creatures are dragged floor(((spellpower + 100) / 20) / (distance ^ 2)) tiles, with distance being the creature's distance to the target. This can be simplified to (spellpower/20 + 5) / (distance^2), or to the following list of cases:

At distance 1, always drag 1 tile
At distance 2, always drag at least 1 tile
At distance 2, drag 2 tiles if spellpower >= 60
At distance 3, drag 1 tile if spellpower >= 80
At distance 3, drag 2 tiles if spellpower >= 260 (impossible)
At distance 4, drag 1 tile if spellpower >= 220 (impossible)
...etc. Player spellpower caps at 200, for reference.

The spell will not drag monsters past the target tile. It also will not drag monsters over tiles they cannot stand on, so you can't throw things across 1-tile rivers.

If the spell tries to drag a monster through a wall, statue, malign gateway, or other impassable terrain feature, the monster simply stops. If the spell tries to drag a monster through a tile occupied by another monster or the player, the two collide and both take damage 2d(1 + spellpower/10) damage, modified by AC. (This is not a lot of damage, in my humble opinion.) Insubstantial monsters cannot collide into other monsters, but other monsters can collide into insubstantial monsters, doing damage as usual. It seems like monsters are supposed to be able to collide with dungeon features like statues, but that doesn't happen in practice.

A collision stops movement, so trying to drag someone two tiles through a bush will only make them collide with the bush once.

Orbs of Destruction can be dragged around with this spell like any other monster, but it won't (directly) cause any collisions. This means you can't make an orb spider immediately get smashed by its orb, but you can potentially use it to drag an orb off to the side and prevent it from hitting you. Orbs fly considerably faster than your spellcasting and can correct their course, so you usually want to either pull it past you or into a spot that will get it to ram a wall with its own movement.

Dragging any monster any distance with this spell will anger the monster if it was friendly or charmed, even if they don't collide with anything. It is not considered an attack for the purposes of gods however, so you can use this to provoke allied and neutral monsters you wish to betray without fear of divine retribution.

Probably the biggest thing to note about this spell is that the targetter is a massive liar and you should ignore the displayed radius. The game uses a weird formula to determine how large to make the radius, and how much to fill it in, but said formula seems to use the wrong constants and thus has no bearing on how the spell actually works. The spell is always capable of dragging monsters 2 tiles away from the center even with a displayed radius of 1, and can never drag monsters 4 tiles away from the center despite the targetter implying you can when you have extremely high spellpower.

Edit: This spell does not check the player's line of sight, and has max range, so you can cast it at the edge of LOS to pull things outside of your explored territory into view.
