Why I Dislike DD

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

Why I Dislike DD

I dislike DD, because their ability to heal themselves any turn they want to means that the early dungeon becomes trivial and boring. No fight matters. You can just heal yourself. No DD of mine has died because I couldn't heal it, it was because I had gotten too bored to always use the same trick to win a fight, so I let it die.

I just thought of putting this here, since it has taken me a surprisingly long time to understand why I was that bored with DD.

Now that DD heal is uncoupled from the wand of heal wounds, it could be changed to work like ambrosia lmao

Re: Why I Dislike DD

Would constraining oneself playing DD blasters, where there is a genuine loss of utility with the lost MP from healing, make it more interesting for you?

Re: Why I Dislike DD

Frankly, I don't know. I mean, I would still have to use the ability to heal myself, and I already try to avoid taking damage when playing blasters of other species. I don't think it would change much, just become somewhat more inconvenient.

Re: Why I Dislike DD

Changing their healing ability to be a regeneration effect (1hp a turn with a duration equal to the current healing amount) would make it harder to spam it in a bad fight, sure. But imho the main issue with DD is that you can heal in other ways that aren't the racial healing ability, effectively getting free healing since you aren't giving up MP to do it. And a DD with infinite HP basically gains damage shaving at no (or at least low) cost.

DDNe is probably their strongest combo: http://dobrazupa.org/morgue/tasonir/mor ... 080634.txt

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone :)

You can certainly try.
