My mut chunk fix proposal:
- Cut Jiyva as a god of worship-Jiyva mutations lists (one of the main gimmicks) are less permanent and useful than Xom's, jellies eating items for piety leads to weird scumming by going to cleared floors to max piety after starting worship, neutral slimes are still a holdover despite good gods losing friendliness with holy monsters, Slimify is extremely strong and one dimensional removal for not much cost (since it is likely the only thing piety is spent on), attribute shifting is annoying to micromanage, Remove Bad Mutation is used more often against 'gifts' Jiyva gives you than malmutations from enemies (and Zin is better for any non-demonspawn at clearing a bad mut list and keeping it clean), the capstone is literally "get the rune of this branch without actually playing it", and the non-Temple aspect is done way worse than Lugonu or Beogh since most people won't even bother unless they get a lucky early altar over just using their current god to win.
- Repurpose Jiyva altars as "shrines of Jiyva", which are single-use, 4-12x mut chunk style mut roulette (I haven't run exact numbers yet to see what would be appropriate) that anyone other than worshippers of Zin can use without penalty (Zin worshippers can either get a piety loss or penance, maybe excommunication if you want to make it severe so they don't gamble with them). Scatter them about the entire game, with a guaranteed one on Slime:5 in the usual altar spot. Shrines don't go away after the Royal Jelly dies. Xom is entertained when you use one.
If there is concern about stockpiling shrines, have them dissolve after leaving the floor they are located on (except for the Slime:5 shrine, which could be coded to either not dissolve until use or leaving the floor after the Royal Jelly dies), but I really don't see stockpiling shrines as an issue since Ctrl+F amnesia->Ctrl+F spellbook, good god capstone rotation, shops, and plenty of other 'backtrack for item' cases still exist in DCSS.
