Secret Tips and Tricks to Improve Your Crawl Games

Now, I see a lot of people here who know how to play Crawl very well. However, what I've commonly seen is that while these people know the fundamentals, by heart, even, they don't really know about the "secret" methods to truly master the game. I wanted to rectify this-- the devs have tried their best to keep this knowledge hidden, but today all shall be revealed.
Cheibriados is a very strong god, as he gives you lots of stats, and stats are very good-- high int, for instance, means that spell hunger will be a thing of the past. However, it takes some time to get enough piety to get your bonuses to +15. Thankfully, there's a means to speed up your piety game. If you join Gozag, and then abandon him (make sure to use your free potion petition first!) his wrath will usually haste up new monsters. Now, since you're Chei, and Chei loves it when you kill fast things, you'll build piety super fast.
Vault Wardens: Mark can be a very useful power! While dangerous if you get caught in the middle of a level, it can be very powerful if you camp next to stairs. You can use it to lure out dangerous monsters in levels such as Tomb or Zot:5, allowing you to face dangerous level-wide vaults on your own terms. Consider leaving stray vault wardens alive for this reason. In theory, Ironbrand Convokers should work as well!
When using a wand, you'll waste charges if the wand isn't identified. However, there is a good way to get around this-- all it requires is an Enslavement wand and access to Maurice. Monsters will always use only one charge when firing wands, which means that you can get Maurice to steal your attack wands, enslave him and then use him to stretch out your wand uses, saving yourself identify scrolls.
But that's not all that Maurice can do. Fedhas followers can make use of him as well. It's not commonly known, but your Wandering Mushrooms can be polymorphed by enemies with polymorph wands. If they fail their MR check, you'll get an Oklob plant every time. This means that you can exploit such enemies to get free oklobs-- any enemy with a poly wand will work, but Maurice obviously works best, as you can give him a poly wand at any time. With some practice, it's possible to get many oklobs in this manner. With these oklobs, you can essentially kite the entire early-mid dungeon into your oklobs and laugh as they are shredded by the plants' acid, and you won't even have to spend any fruit!
If you're a summoner fighting batty monsters, it might be worthwhile to slow yourself. The enemy monsters will get less time to attack, while your own summons will be able to attack them all the same.
Yara's Violent Unraveling is often derided as useless, but it has some secret uses. If you use the aforementioned Gozag trick, you'll have an endless supply of monsters to blast with it! What's more, if you're short on cancellation you can use it do dispel yourself-- you'll get a bad mut, but that can often be better than having a status effect on you.
Fedhas worshippers should memorize Gell's Gravitas. It has the unique ability to turn your mushrooms hostile, but without incurring penance-- meaning that Fedhas will still allow you to fire through them. What this means is that you can create walls of mushrooms that stand still and block hostile enemies, while still being able to fire through your wall! It's like conjure flame, but in many ways even better!
I hope these tips were useful! Please share your own advice if you have any.
