Maurice shouts!
Maurice casts a spell.
Maurice flickers and vanishes!

You start resting. Something hits you. Something steals all your gold!
...
You kill Maurice!
Zin accepts your kill.
Your Fighting skill increases to level 6!
You pay a tithe of 40 gold.
You can now call upon Zin to create a sanctuary.
Zin will cure all your mutations... once.
You now have 369 gold pieces (gained 362).

TL;DR: Maurice stole my 400 gold. Recollecting it took me from half piety to full piety in one fell swoop. This is going to be a good game.

This is quite amusing.

I suspect a lot of players forget that they can donate (some of) their money to Zin, willingly, at an altar anytime. This can be useful for weaker characters early in the game, especially if there are no good shops around.

You can donate half your money to Zin regardless of whether you're at an altar. Is that what you meant?

Sorry, I was under the impression this only worked at altars. Was that changed in recent versions, or did I just never realise this?

It was changed in 0.17 (just like the weapon blessing with Kiku, Lugonu and TSO, or Kiku's Necronomicon gift).

It was changed along with all other gods' powers requiring to pray at altars (TSO's, Kiku's, Lucy's, Zin's) when they were moved to ability menu

I wonder how many times I've needlessly been to a Zin altar since 0.17...
