Borgnjor is a Girl!

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

Borgnjor is a Girl!

Or, at least, a woman.

A jewelled amulet famed for its powers of resilience and recuperation. Its greatest notoriety came from its use by the dread necromancer Borgnjor, who relied upon it to maintain her slender hold on life. After her final demise, the amulet vanished from the pages of history.

The subject came up in the Scientist tread: apparently, not all of the master wizards are of unspecified gender.

Well, it doesn't say Borgnjor vanished from the pages of history, it says the amulet vanished from the pages of history... in the same description which has historical information about who used it(the dread necromancer Borgnjor) and for what reason(to maintain her slender hold on life).

Yeah, the "vanished from the pages of history" makes no sense. Presumably someone thought that "the amulet was lost" was too prosaic and tried to vary the phrasing, but made a hash of it.

Re: Borgnjor is a Girl!

It is a bit odd. Presumably "the pages of history" mean a written record. Something "vanishing" from a written record can mean several different things, including deletion, destruction of the record, or perhaps simply the record keepers forgetting that the record exists. Of course an amulet, or other physical object, can't disappear from a written record, only its description can.

Something like "the amulet was thought lost, until you found it." might be much better.

Re: Borgnjor is a Girl!

Maybe "it's existence was only speculated until now" or "was thought to be a myth" would work better. Idk, most every description in modern crawl has a really dull encyclopedic voice to it. I guess it's hard to inject that mystery other games have without adding NPCs or environmental storytelling.
