Improving the Gods

Okawaru should gift submachine guns.

Nemelexites should get green eyeshades (+1 AC, SInv).

Elvilyonners should have to wear big red crosses.

Kiku's corpse gifting should be delivered in a hearse.

Re: Improving the Gods

Followers of Zin should have to confess. Hit pc to log into a special server, where the player confesses his sins to volunteer confessors and receives in-game penance (z.B. no wearing armour for 200 turns, you have to fast (only eat when you reach starvation, and then only one chunk).

Monsters should do stuff when the player's not around. This would make worshipping Ash more... fun.

Refrain from reducing that gnoll castle and eventually they'll develop representative democracy and nanotech.

Jiyva followers should put up wanted posters for Bill Cosby, the vilest promoter of jellocide. Sadly, these posters would promptly get eaten by his prospective victims.

Re: Improving the Gods

I'd like to know more about the interaction between the gods. If you don't worship a given god then that god has no direct effect on your game - but wouldn't one god want to stop the follower of another god from getting the Orb? Right now if you worship one and then stop doing so, that god gets pissed off to some degree - though this doesn't happen between the good gods, who are all buddies.

So what are the gods doing the rest of the time? Are they all hermits and ignore each other? Or does Makhleb hate Zin? Do Okawaru and Trog fight? Does Trog despise the spellcasting gods? Do none of the others speak to Jiyva because s/he is weird?

I want to know what's happening on Mount Olympus!

They're probably playing Crawl and complaining about dying to centaurs on D:3.

True. That must be why Trog's gifts are always so awful: he's permanently distracted by trying to play a Spriggan Wizard.

When Trog gives you stuff with nice plusses, he must have just cleared Vault:8 or something.

That raises the question of what relationship there is between the gods and the Orb. Perhaps none, given that one can ascend as an atheist.

Though I agree that they are up there playing Crawl. What else is there to do with one's spare time.

If they are infinitely powerful then they may have infinite amounts of spare time. Perhaps they become devs.

One of the passages in Zin's Recite ability mentions specifically that he hates Xom and his followers.

Anyway, Fedhas should he in charge of PETFV: People for the Ethical Treatment of Fruit and Vegetables. She wants to know how many lettuce and tomato plants had to suffer and die for that salad of yours.

That's interesting - but there's no actual manifestation of this in the game. For example, there's no "Zin likes it when you destroy altars to Xom" (nor the capacity to do so).

On which grounds Fedhas should hate those vegan Spriggans most of all...

Fedhas probably hates necro gods.
Elvilyon probably hates Makhleb and/or Trog/Okes.

I've always felt that Elyvilon and Okawaru have some sort of back-channel dealing going on. Okie makes weapons (or collects them and tosses them out at random) as a hobby, and Ely cheers the destruction of weapons. Both potentially benefit from the spawning of new weapons.

Perhaps it's time we began to conspire against the perfidious gods...

Lemme tell you, when we got there I'd be the first to find that Xom and smack him one - right in the kisser! We'd see how much that amused him!

In this amazing sequel, the only religion available for players to follow is Lugonu!
