A brief question about a bullfrog's lethality...

While I get that, in-game, the bullfrog is supposed to be giant, what, other than maybe biting and kicking(the only potential thing that I would see as a threat from a giant jumping animal, akin to a kangaroo, maybe), would qualify a bullfrog to even be a danger to even a level 3-4 character? They seem they should be a D:1 or D:2 enemy. Just my opinion.

This is a game where a porcupine can physically obliterate a black bear by biting it twice. Once, if the porcupine is berserk.

Re: A brief question about a bullfrog's lethality...

RL Bullfrogs eat D:1 rats. (However, I don't think they eat jackals.)

Goliath Frogs are bigger. I think bullfrogs could be renamed to Goliath Frogs, which can be read both as the name of the rl animal and as Giant Frog.

please just change it back to giant frog! it's a giant frog... Everyone knows what "giant frog" is. It's frog that is way too big! Very scary! Bullfrog is just smelly little terrarium pet.

I will agree that "giant frog" wasn't confusing anyone wrt giants also existing and didn't really need to be changed, but also I don't think it matters much in the other direction

Re: A brief question about a bullfrog's lethality...

I thought the whole reason for the "giants" being renamed was simply that the prefix "giant" being used on so many monsters was just kinda boring?
If I play online, I do so under the screenname Marenglen.

I don't know. If it was I don't really agree with that reasoning, I don't think players were tallying the number of enemies with giant in their names and shaking their heads

Tyrant leeches is a way worse name than giant leeches.

Re: A brief question about a bullfrog's lethality...

bullfrogs are so named because they are bull/frog hybrids, sort of like frog minotaurs. they attack by goring you because they're bull-sized and have sicknasty horns

also tyrant leech is objectively a cooler name than giant leech sorry

I think le_nerd is just worried that it's a slippery slope that will end in cock worms generating outside of abyssal stair

That would convince me, for certain. Any game with 100% genuine leeching action is the game for me.
