troublesome V4 layout

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

troublesome V4 layout

I'm taking a MiBe through the Vaults, and encountered the following V4 layout:
  Code:
        ###
     ####.####  ##############
    ##.#...#.## #............#
   ##.........###............#
   #...#...#...##............#
   ##.###.###.###............#
  ##...#...#...##............#
  #..<...<......'............#
  ##...#...#...#########'######
   ##.###.###.##  #....†..)...#
   #...#...#...#  #...#######.#
   ##.........##  #.>.#Ho...#.#
    ##.#...#.##   #...###.###.#
     ####.####    #.....#.#...#
#########'#############.#.#####
#.......#))......##...#.#.. ..#
#.......#........##.###.###...#
#.......#........##.#)....#.>.#
#.......'........##.#######...#
#.......#........#   .........'
#.......#........#  #+#########
#.......##########
#..<....#
#.......#
#.......#
#.......#
#########

The walls are either metal or (in the southeast) translucent rock. All the upstairs are in the very small area already explored; to explore more I have to use either digging (which I have, fortunately), or take the one downstairs provided on this side of the level...
I don't know whether all characters are supposed to have access to digging at this stage of the game. If not, this layout may serve as a newby trap causing inexperienced players to inadvertently enter V5 when they are not yet ready.
Of course, one could also play teleport roulette to explore this level.

Re: troublesome V4 layout

It's an interesting layout...

Just rather doubtful how many newbies are going to wander down to Vault 5 without any clue. Just to get into Vaults, they've had to clear the Dungeon to a deep level, one rune branch, and usually Lair/Orc. So it wouldn't be the first time a bottom floor was especially scary. Even those that do, should have a turn to look at the welcoming crowd and (hopefully) retreat unless they catch something unfortunate like immediate stair locking. In fact, I recall myself first stepping into V:5 early once, saying wtf that's impressive, and backing out.

Re: troublesome V4 layout

That "do V:5 after Depths etc" is awfully spoilery seems like the primary problem.

Re: troublesome V4 layout

I can't go back to visit V:5 unspoiled for the first time, so this may be fals. I suspect that a number of inexperienced players don't fight the welcome party. Instead they might go back up the stairs and then go somewhere else. There isn't usually a warden immediately.

Re: troublesome V4 layout

Most people who play this game kill everything and do not run away from enemies until they are already at like 10% HP
