The Ru ability Power Leap could use a rename. The name is a little ambiguous in a way I don't like, and it sounds like "power drive". I think there has to be something better. Help me choose the replacement.

The current flavor of the ability is that you gather the power you've gained by sacrificing to Ru and make a mighty leap, releasing the power in a damaging explosion where you land. Another perfectly good flavor that would match the mechanics is exploiting your transcendent knowledge to suddenly be somewhere else, which also causes a burst of power.

So far leading contenders for new names are:

1) Void Step,
2) Radiant Leap,
3) Leap,
4) Escape the Bonds,
5) Transcend Location,
6) Transcendent Leap.

If you choose "other" in the poll, please specify your suggestion. I'll delete any joke posts unless they're actually funny.

This is a good description, so why not just use it? Why not just "explosive leap," "destructive step," or the like?

"Divine Leap" if it deals damage which ignores both AC and EV.
"Blast Leap" if it deals damage which ignores just EV (similar to Isk. Mystic Blast).
As you can see I have no idea if it ignores AC, new name might clarify that.

I'd say that "Apocalypse" and "great annihilating truth" are more in need of bikeshedding than Power Leap.

Wait what? "You reveal the great annihilating truth to your enemies" is about the best line in the game!

Whatever name you choose I think it should be descriptive of the impact/damage dealt on landing.

On the topic of ru bikeshedding, should "sacrifice" be "relinquish"?

As I picture it the idea is that as you transcended reality these mortal things began to fade away, or otherwise be lost, not that you're sacrificing your flesh as if to some aztec good, which "sacrifice" is a bit more reminiscent of.

edit: Also I voted void step but I like "transverse", which is a portmanteau of traverse and transcend and is also composed of the prefix trans- folowed by 'verse' as in universe. Probably void step sounds better though.

Transverse is already it's own word

I know- I think it works that way as well, but it's more debatable: The path you take extends via another realm, between the one point and the other. This realm could be be a part of underlying supporting structure of (this) reality, thereby causing the local destablisation.

I rather like power leap.

Explosive Blink

Liminal Step. You call upon Ru, and the thin and ethereal ribbon between creation and void reveals itself to you as a broad and easily traversed path. You pass through, blinking up to three tiles in one direction. The annihilating power of Ru seeps through the portal, damaging foes adjacent to your destination.

Blinkburst, following the raiju/sparkwasp pseudospell blinkbolt.

how about... Catastrophic Leap

After running this survey for a while, Void Step and Power Leap seem to the be most popular entries. There are a lot of "other" votes, but no Other vote has many thanks. My conclusion is that people are reasonably happy with the current name, and the best alternative is Void Step.
