Make Beogh gifts race-dependent

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

Make Beogh gifts race-dependent

Make Beogh ally-gifts and abilities race dependent, so he will gift you nagas if you are playing naga, or tengus if you are playing tengu. Oh, and allow every race worship him. How does that sound?

Re: Make Beogh gifts race-dependent

if you take a moment to think about how many species actually have monster counterparts in the game, and where those monsters appear in the game/what abilities those monsters can have, you should realize this is a really bad idea

and to cut off the discussion immediately, adding a nontrivial number of monster counterparts for every playable species is also a bad idea

Can you explain why? There should be massive rework of panhell in 0.20 so its a great opportunity to add various rune branches and denizens of them.

...you do realize the pan/hell rework is to reduce the number of branches that spawn in the game, not to add branches, right

anyway *even* if we hypothetically added enough monsters in the game so that every species had monster counterparts this would still be a bad idea, see "if you take a moment to think about how many species actually have monster counterparts in the game, and what abilities those monsters can have you should realize this is a really bad idea"

You could make god gifts more/less powerful depending on race while keeping race flavour but whatever.

Oh, now I understand, you are planning to cut boring extended to make it less boring. Well, I cannot argue with that, maybe I could endure lesser amounts of boring extended than now to achieve 15-rune win. Good luck with that rework, just dont forget to remove something since crawl is definitely overflowing with content now.

yes, coding in +20 special cases for a god is good, solid design and definitely not an indication that there is something flawed with the premise

You are telling them your ideas, yes-and they are telling you what they think of them, which is at least equally valid.

Someone pointing out the problems with your ideas does not automatically make them salty.

Sounds horrible but I want it.

Pet Greater Naga's/Vashnia sound super balanced.
