Poison on the Well

Heavy shitpost warning

You devils removed High Elf, one of the most played races, in order to fill it with what will be a undesirable race.

You devils could have just give high elves the ability to leap, its not like you suddenly care about races being balanced amongst each other... or maybe you do...

You devils nerfed Deep Dwarf, one of the least played races, making his ability to heal hostile towards any spell related background.

You devils could have just let deep dwarves regen naturally and expend 1 mmp to heal in case of danger, preserving his main design and making him more appealing.
You shall never see my color again.

The eternal war between devils and anvils. Or devels and anvels.

Or levers and angles.

Whatever.

The main design of dd is being overpowered, seems legit to me.

Re: Poison on the Well

Have it been considered to make DD spend some max HP for healing? Or maybe both MP and HP.

If DD's main design is "dont regen life", at some point you will have to realise that design doesnt work.

They already spend MP to recharge wands. Which realistically, are the major early source of healing. At least in more challenging runs.

I would like your definition of "work". If werent for speedrunners im pretty sure it would be THE least played race, And nobody who wants to set records will speedrun 0.20 deep dwarves so... RIP

Re: Poison on the Well

DD works but playing one is like slowly flaying the skin off your own genitals.

The change just makes DDEE^Mak (the least painful combo in precious versions) nauseatingly painful.

Re: Poison on the Well

I dont think there is anything "painful" about playing any dd, quite the contrary, it is a smooth care-free run. If anything, its just boring. Your pain is just you trying to play a highly resourceful race conservatively.

Conservative is not how I would phrase my play ever.

The health miro-management is just not even remotely fun. Quite the opposite.

Mak is actually good though, even without DD. DD isn't very fun anymore, I agree.
I'm with tasonir on this one.

I thought DD was the devs' way of teaching us to startscum for big vampiric axes.

Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing was winnable and people played it

that doesn't mean it works in any meaningful sense

Just because I took the trouble to win DDBe and stayed with Trog and never got a vampiric weapon doesn't mean I would ever recommend that nightmare to anyone because DD is anti-fun unless you take Makh or get a vamp weapon, I'm pretty sure.

every race/class combo is no fun and tedious. Make the Troll Face race. So i can troll the game with my tedium practives, that I could easily avoid doing.

I've observed multiple new non-jaded Crawl players who played and enjoyed DD.
