Remove humans

Humans are a relatively uninteresting species in terms of gameplay, feeling somewhat like demonspawn but with fast leveling like kobolds. Their theme originates from Tolkien, a source of lore that crawl is trying to borrow less from these days. Their gorgeous round ears not withstanding, this particular Tolkien reference isn't particularly interesting.

(Especially with Ogres now also having newly-improved casting apts, there's a very wide range of hybrid/magic-oriented species, with Humans being increasingly redundant.)

Re: Remove humans

Seriously, give Ds ability to join good gods and remove Hu as a boring duplicate.

Re: Remove humans

IMO humans are the most interesting species in crawl.

Re: Remove humans

Humans aren't actually stolen from Tolkien though? The modern english human comes from Old English mann, and numerous human-like characters appear in Germanic folklore. Beowulf, as an example, has a human character named Beowulf.

Re: Remove humans

Nope, modern English human comes from Old French humain.

Human chars come from Iliad, as do Demigods.

Re: Remove humans

The earliest human references in a tolkian context come from tolkian works, and we're trying to get away from using tolkien references in crawl. Yes.
