Is a wand of teleport needed?

As per question. It replicates the effect of a scroll, and it's pretty rare. I guess it makes a difference if you go with Ru and sacrifice words, or if you get a bad case of blurry eyes? But for the wand to be useful in these cases, you first need to have it, and it isn't easy to find.

So I'm wondering if removing the wand and increasing the generation of the scrolls would be a good idea. One less occupied slot.

I would remove the wand to buff monster Silence.

Yes, it is needed.

I think potion of flight/ring of flight is more a duplicate.
Please remove one of them.

Care to explain? Right now, the only function I see is giving Deep Dwarves a certain survivability.

It is vital for casters whose melee combat abil is poor, versus silent spectres.
Also, it could help you great when your eyes are heavily mutated.

And it can be "recharged", so that it rescues ones who picked few scrolls of teleportation.

These are great arguments for removing wands of teleportation.

Rework Mennas' silence aura and we'll remove wand of teleportation. It's why I carry it.

Carrying potion of resistance for Nikola, potion of flight for Jorgrun, wand of tele for Mennas, ring of rN+ for Josephine is not fun IMHO. We might free some inventory slots by changing those uniques.

It is possible to escape from Mennas via haste and running away until silence times out. Or alternatively, just buff and fight along with your summons from sack of spider or whatever. In any case it will be more interesting than evoking the wand IMHO.

It is also possible without the haste part. The silence only affects his square in the last few turns. You just have to be able to survive a few of his attacks, and if you're unable to, then there's something seriously wrong with your strategy.

I think there is nothing wrong with playing a Mu or Vp as caster and they can die in 2-3 shots with bad luck and you can already be wounded when Mennas comes into view.

This is an argument for removing holy wrath, not weakening silence.

Now my left lobe is saying "just remove the scroll and increase the gen rate of the wand in the early levels", while my right lobe is saying "no, it's too good as a panic button, it must remain rare". Both lobes are ignoring the important fact that wands don't stack, and that having more wands of teleport appear would do nothing to solve the inventory problem, and just make it worse.

And an evokable like the stone of tremors would not be OK because that's a different philosophy. Teleport as it is now is spammable, but spamming it means not having it available in the long run. The stone is not spammable, but you are certain of having its effect available in the long run.

Yes, I need it to make early Cheibriados worship safer. There will be a few scramble situations thanks to shafts and teleport traps.

I use silence a lot in tomb with my melee chars.
Therefore the wand is needed.
In normal 3 rune-games one might never notice its usefulness.

If you are wounded, then probably you're not autoexploring, so you should see the halo from afar and prepare accordingly. And Vp can just batform while silenced, it's faster than Mennas. This leaves us with mummies. You should expect it to be terrible when playing one. That said, you're going to have some misc evokables available at the Mennas' depth, it should suffice to distract him for long enough.
