Can Pixel's slaves appear on a different level than Pixel?

I just encountered the slaves on D:4 and Pixel on D:5 in v19.

Has this been normal before? I didn't go to D:5 at all before fighting the slaves. I didn't drag anyone downstairs.

I did wander around D:4 a while hoping to find Pixel there, first. So to be clear, there were many turns between fighting the slaves (never saw Pixel there) and going to D:5.

Uniques sometimes walk lower. I think something similar once happened to me with Josephine, I spotted her and left, and later met her in a deeper level, possibly without her wraiths (although I can't swear that her wraiths weren't there, she surely went downstairs).

Pixel was having quite a day then. I took one step forward on D:5, and he walked into a teleport trap there too.
